I think the old style carbon bonnet vents look much better than the mesh versions they fit as standard now.

I'm with you on the colours. Grey or black, but they do look stunning in diavolo red or similar, with everything else blacked out.

Here's some yellow. And the CF vents.

That is extremely good looking.

Headrest embroided AM Wings (i've heard these don't look as good in red?)

I wouldn't go for these on the lightweight seats as you already have metal AM wings on the seats so if you specify the embroided ones you have them twice, embroided and metal which looks odd.

Congratulations in ordering a great car while you still can, the end of an era.

Vote for green from me, with yellow calipers and grill vertical bars, LW seats.

Don't worry about B&O the premium is fine.

I do like alcantara lower interior. Yellow stitching

Then in 2 years you can give me a call :-)

Definitely go for B&O.

They will be more expensive in 2 years time than they are now! Better buy now... if you can afford it.

Thanks for this ! In regards to Q, i've had a flick through the brouchure and not seen anything that really tickles my fancy. Is there anything someone would suggest worth getting? I also thought you had to spend a minimum of £12k to get Q which I don't see why I would ?

In regards to colour, I want to keep it mean but classy. Although I love the look of your outrageous colours, as this is my first AM I'm wanting to keep it a little more "standard". My thinking is between Quantm silver, magnetic silver and ceramic grey, going with the matt black rims.

Interior i'm absolutely going for the leightweight seat's. What I can't agree on is the coarse stitching colour - it's between yellow of red and will match the brake callipers with it.

Exterior meshes I can't agree on - I would go carbon but it's such an increase in price I don't know if it's worth it over the black.

Window surround black (don't want chrome on the car).

B&O Speaker setup.

Headrest embroided AM Wings (i've heard these don't look as good in red?)

We were questioning the Sport Plus pack, but with the new AMR kit I don't think this is needed.

Glass switches.

Lowline centre console was advised for the manual.

Anything I seem to be missing/making a mistake on? The spec list for the V12 doesn't seem that vast.
A few answers to the above...

Based on your colour shortlist I would suggest Scintilla Silver is worthy of consideration. It is a stunning silver colour - the metal flake in it is something to behold.

Not sure what carbon meshes are? There are only two colours I am aware of silver and black noctis.

B&O - really nice and certainly looks the dogs, but it is VERY expensive and the consensus is that it doesn't sound any better than the Premium Audio that is now std spec on MY17. Be aware you may want the black speaker grilles too if you go B&O otherwise they are silver, but these add another £600. Premium audio comes with black grilles as std.

Headrests embroidered with wings. Be aware that the lightweight seats come with small enamel wing badges in the headrests anyway - so IMHO the additional embroidered wings looks daft. They work on the sports seats which doesn't have the enamel badges - but I personally would suggest dropping them on the lightweights. If you want embroidery on the seat heads go for "Vantage V12 S" or "V12 S" or such like instead of having two sets of wings!

Sport pack plus - agree it makes no sense for the power increase alone, and if you are going satin black wheels then that's ruled out the biggest cost item it comes with so seems like a no-no for you. Worth considering the alcantara dash option that is part of the sport pack plus option - cost me just £695 from Q, and worth every penny IMHO.

Oh and as posted above - the full CF bonnet vents are a must. The new ones just don't look the part at all.

My only reservation on Scintilla is that it's one of the five AMR schemes and I would wager it will be the second most popular after the Halo scheme (for the reasons Adam lists above). It's also a 'Q' colour, so will be £££.

Is there a risk (more come resale time) that it would appear to be a non-AMR car trying to look like an AMR car? Discuss...

Given it'll be your personal spec, it would be a shame to have a car that looks like quite a few others!

(PS go Hardly green with yellow calipers cloud9)

In fairness, that is a very valid point re Scintilla and the AMR. smile

Noted on the lighweight seats - I was only going for the embroidery because the seats looked bare otherwise, so not precious over removing.

The CF bonnet vents are listed as "External Mesh" in the spec list.

Did anyone go for the v12 side badges? I'm going to get the one on the back, but can't justify the side one's at such a price.

Thanks all for the feedback !

Here's a MY 2014 lightweight seat.

Mine has no badges other than than the AM wings front and back. Much more balanced, and saves a ton of weight.......

I think the constant chatter of 'rarity', being 'collectible' and 'resale value' is creating nonsensical anxiety amongst us all (normally sensible successful people).
Most of us never dreamed of being able to buy Astons, and know deep down it is not a really rational thing to do, so go with you heart and order your favorite spec and don't be taken in by 'special' editions that are really just marketing hype.
You're going to spend far more time looking at it, cleaning it and thinking about it than you will driving it so make it a dream come true.
For me a standard model with maybe a hidden performance upgrade is the stealthy way to be classy.

If you are a sensible 'successful' person spending £160-190k on a toy, it is very understandable to be worried about the fact that something just that little bit better has been released for not a lot more.

If it was me, i would always have that little nagging feeling on the back of my mind of 'not complete satisfaction'.

When it comes to last of the line, last of the normally aspirated, last of the manual etc... Look at Porsche and Ferrari, they always beat all expectations and come up with something that little bit better.

For me I would play it as follows: buy a v12v s manual on 2nd hand mkt at best possible rate. OR, wait for the next itteration of the v12v which is almost certainly going to be a belter based on the association with Mercedes. Imagine the db11 engine in something a little more compact with new interior and new looks? It *will* be amazing and the current platform will look resolutely old hat when it's out next year.

You'd be no good at deciding what yacht to buy then!

Sometimes you just have to use the confidence that got you in a position to buy a toy to just choose it and enjoy it. Easier said than done.

Go to a Ferrari or Porsche meet snd see the poor souls getting all cut up inside that they only have a 599 GTB and not the GTO, or a GT3 not the GT3RS.

Aston owners must not let the AMR do it to them!

Ahaha boats! You know the old FFF rule... If it flies, floats or fk, rent it... wink

My father used to own all sorts of boats and the amount of trouble that came with them vaccinated me i think.

When it comes to cars, experience tells me that there is always something better or unexpected around the corner. So throwing all your beans at one car which is not the absolute top of the crop is a cardinal sin.

It's like everything in life, you'd swear you'd buy this particular car and it will be a keeper for sure... Except that 12-24 months down the line you are dying to try something new. Not because the car is not good but just because the amount of exciting kit out there is more amazing than it's ever been.

Well, at least, i learnt to know myself over time.. smile

Hmm - the mesh bonnet vents have CF edges, but these are NOT the full CF bonnet vents. The full CF bonnet vents (think how you are used to normally seeing them on a V12V are at £2k option now - there is no mesh on these. See pic below and compare to the ones posted above.

I didn't as didn't see the point or value, but many people do. Personal choice.

Hmm - I reacted differently cancelling my slot. I think AML has completely overdone the "special run" cars and hence diluted the brand accordingly. If we "nerds" on this forum can't figure out what is what how is the broader clientele going to react. Also, with prices being quoted around 175k for a 10 year old design it is clearly nuts. You are only a whisker away from an F12 which in my opinion is a naturally aspirated V12 in completely different league.
