Early vantage roadster
Discussion
Hi people I'm looking at buying an early vantage roadster with about 40k to spend. It's a 50th birthday present to myself. I'm soon going to be test driving a few to give me a feel of driving a prestige car. I've previously owned a porsche boxster so love the top down feel even though in the English weather the top is going to stay up most of the time. Im looking at getting the manual and considering getting a company to source a vehicle for me any feedback on this would be great. With spending such a lot of cash which I've been saving for the last two and a half years I don't want to be paying out extra money once I've brought the car many thanks guys
Pick up a copy of The Definitive Guide to Gaydon Era Aston Martin by Grant as your first step.
Work out what is important for you spec wise and buy on condition, not mileage. I'm on my 2nd roadster and the first one had 15k on the clock and was infinitely more troublesome than my current one which has 45k.
Personally i wouldn't bother going to the expenses on a sourcing company as that budget you will be looking at private sales or ropier cars at non-main dealerships so you can probably find them just as easy as they can.
Where in the country are you?

Just bought an early manual roadster myself although it cost me nearer to £50k than £40k but was from a well known specialist with a good warranty.
I do remember seeing some for sale at main dealers at really quite sensible prices. Also there are not that many on the market, especially manual, so I reckon you can locate all such cars yourself. Pay an expert to check over a car you find yourself rather than locate one in the first place.
