Personally I agree. Whole weekend at Silverstone for the British GP and went no further than a Lewis/Merc cap that doesn't get worn for the rest of the year. Not saying it's wrong but just not for me.

I am glad I am not alone. I thought I might get roasted for my statement of disapproval hehe

It's a part of the human pysche to be tribal.
Different cultures show their tribal allegiances in different ways.
The tribal instinct in our First World nations, religion apart, mainly manifests itself in allegiances to their chosen sports team,or country, if played internationaly.
The tribal instinct,in the UK,can also be seen at Henley, striped blazers and boaters, the golf "uniform",the "old school tie",and of course the AM favourite Red Chinos.

Personally I think unless you are at a formula one race / Le Mans etc then you look a complete tool in car branded merchandise. Doesn't matter if it's a polo shirt, cufflinks or whatever it just makes me think... knob.
I largely agree but every year I go to Le Mans and I normally buy at least one t or polo shirt and one outer jacket/coat/gillet, both AMR branded, sometimes Hackett. I wear them there and I always think I might then wear them for other occasions back home but in the end, very rarely do because I always think at the last minute I will as you say, look a tool

Tend to wear them on a convoy road trip sometimes, particularly in the evenings for dinner amongst fellow petrolheads, but that's about it

I kid myself that there is a difference between AMR and AML branded clothing but I suspect to the vast majority of non petrolheads they see no distinction

OP , I think Adam and I can be genuinely called " Eco " given the colours - in the flesh Peridot Green is even greener than the photo.
Q took a lot of work and negotiation to paint.

+1, almost bought a RBR Soft Shell at the Fan Zone & then saw the price!! yikes decided against it!
LM 2018 might be a different story, but I resent the rip-off prices at these events!

Maybe I turned this a bit sideways in my post. Was really meaning to point at the AM brand in general. Le Mans victory not just a chance to sell chaff (did I use that correctly) but to promote the brand in general. We've all drank the koolaide already. How does AM get some fresh faces to come in and purchase that expensive cup of coffee?

Nothing like a free shirt!

In the U.S. a popular pregame or half time promotion at a sporting event can be distribution of T-shirts with home team logos;event specific details, etc

To aid in an equitable distribution a pneumatic cannon can be employed. And it is fun! The crowd loves this improved technology assist which yields greater loft and range of the tightly packaged shirts. This is a substantial upgrade versus the old propellant, the human arm.

Remember now, these thousands of fans, kids, students and alumnae/benefactors of all ages, now scrambling for a shirt, have paid big money for a good seat, and maybe been on a wait list to qualify for admittance. Definitely a First World amusement.

In a newsletter from my college I learned their recently acquired cannon was failing and required rebuilding, replacement or a larger compressor. Analysis had been requested from the school's Engineering College.

I think there is a very different view on merchandise between UK and US. Shirt Cannon kind of stuff would just be cringe worthy over here.

Indeed, and it always makes me smile in an enjoyable way, but it's just not me...us...some of us? Maybe just me then!

Not a footbal follower at all, but do rather enjoy the old footage of 'goal scored, quick appreciative handshake and a gently walk back for the restart'. Much better than the orgasmic triumphant love in's we see nowadays.

I see Astons as more of a quick appreciative handshake.

Hear, Hear.

I do rather think quiet yet confident understatement is a rather admirable British quality. Don't you?

Says the chap with an Orange Aston!!!
