Not me. If it's important should we add it as another column on the attendance list?

No its not overly important.... I was just chatting to Tim Butcher from the AMOC and he asked the question... Because a lot of interest in this event already he was saying that they lay on some excellent events throughout the year that we could all be missing out on.

I don’t want to turn this into AMOC bashing as of course there are some very nice people there

But when I mentioned to a senior committee member, at a dinner 18 months ago, that AMOC could do more to attract PH forumites - such as track days -the response was “why on earth would we do that? This isn’t a business, we have more than enough members already!”.

That’s why I say I will only have membership for so long as Locktons are the cheapest insurer (or until we get a more inclusive executive).

I won’t tell them if you don’t smile

I had thought of asking them at renewal whether I really needed to be an AMOC member still. I would guess they aren’t too bothered

I'm insured with Chubb too - free trackday cover. Not that appropriate for my five door family hatchback but good to know I'll be covered for a few laps on the day smile

AMOC remains what it is but they do piggy back the more creative and varied enthusiasts' events quite often!

On the subject of Locktons Club Scheme I have just moved away from it to Classicline for about a 50% savings in premium. As I am currently down to one Aston it is the first time for a few years that I was able to do some sort of comparison on the premiums. I had seen on PH that a few people had challenged and got further discounts so I thought I would give it a go.

My premium renewal request was for £1,440 but I then adjusted car value and mileage limit and it dropped by £100 or so, and then asked if that was the best price they could do it at. Was told the 'scheme is the scheme' but if I found it cheaper elsewhere to get back to them. Sounded alarm bells for me so I phoned Classicline that I had seen a few recommend on here. On what looked to be mirror terms I was quoted £750 and went back to Locktons. They reduced their premium to £850 to keep my business furious so I moved.

So, the Club scheme doesn't work for me, it may for you as the pricing I am told doesn't take into account location so if you are in London it may be more competitive. If you are 'rural' then I would suggest you look closely at your next renewal and challenge them.

On a side note, I will stay a member of the Club because I have met some good friends through it and we have attended some great events. That is not to say it couldn't do with modernising and not surprising that many Aston owners do not bother with it. Mind you in the SW we are predominately Gaydon cars!!

I've asked Locktons to quote at my last two renewals but they were laughable for me - nearly 4 times as much as I paid this year (not including the AMOC subs). Yes, the cover is good but not worth that much. Didn't know they don't adjust for location (crazy) but they did tell me they don't take NCD into consideration as "most owners have several cars so don't have any to offer them". Well I was offering them 10 years of it but they weren't inclined to rethink the quote at all.

Also, whilst the track cover is handy, it does have an excess of 10% attached to it. Yes 10% yikes

OK, rant over.
