I've no idea where the GT8 is (but certainly more than 99db!).

If the limit is high enough there may be a group of the GT8 owners interested
That would be amazing........ I will double check about the noise levels. But like I said, my last Aston was noisy as hell and was ok... biggrin

Yes helmets are required..... why do you think no room in your car?
Because my head is already touching the headlining ! No chance of fitting a helmet in too.

UPDATE......

So prices back from Donnongton at £21,500 + VAT so that's a no no plus the date I was looking at ties in with BTCC round.

Rockingham which is available on Friday 20th April is only £8,500 + VAT (£10,200 incl VAT) with 2 instructors for the day, we can have more if we want, so this is much better.

Also we can have up to 60 cars comfortably there on the day. But if we reach the 40 mark this day will only cost each of us £255-00, so the more cars we can get the cheaper it gets.

Noise limits will be a very non strict 105db, id find it hard to imagine any of our cars are above that!!

So I have provisionally booked this for 20/04/18

Did 3 of these organised by Bob and they were brilliant.

A word of warning for those with CCM's. Don't go too heavy on them. This is the reason I will not be joining in this time.

Have a fun and safe day biggrin

I will ask the question if they are compulsory or not but I think I think I know the answer to this already..

Would come and watch you young hotshots honing round.

Are spectators allowed? My old Vanquish wouldn't appreciate being flung around me thinks!

Regarding helmets.

Copy of email from Will at Rockingham;

No problem Paul,

Helmets are compulsory on circuit and we do have a rack of 30 for track day use if required. We can either hire them individually on the day for £20 or the full rack can be hired for £250 and drivers / passengers can use throughout the day. We do asks that drivers leave a licence or similar as deposit when borrowing a helmet.

Many thanks,

Will

Anyone know how noisy a decatted V8 is? Guessing that's the closest approximation to a GT8?

I have decible meter, will bring it with me, we can have a "noise off" competition, my money is on my larini decat system smile

Sounds like a sensible price, the fewer cars the better, hopefully they will put some rules in palce to stop people trying silly last second overtales and risking damage....

I'd be interested but, from experience, would be turned away if the noise limit was 105db (and I would not be interested in travelling hundreds of miles to find out how accurate the term 'non strict' is). The GT8 is considerably higher than 112db which is about as high as "noise limited" track days go.

If you go down the "unsilenced" route you mentioned earlier, I'd be very interested.

Also I'd rather pay more but have less traffic? 60 cars is a huge number, even if you were to session it 50:50. 40 would make for a far better event (split into 2 groups alternating half hourly)?

Last week I attended a private track day at Silverstone. Expensive, but exceptionally well organised with no more than 10 cars on track at any one time + no noise limit + an instructor on hand all day + mechanics + lunch etc etc.

Let me email them and find out what they say regarding the noise level with regards to your car and any other GT8's that want to attend, after all it would be nice to have them there.

As far as track side assistance goes I am looking into this as well.

Number of cars, all I said was that the track can accommodate up to 60, but I want to cap the number at no more than a maximum of 45.

Anyone know how the noise test is done?

I've got sound measuring kit at work, so would like to know how close I will be before committing.

Position of microphone, distance from car, revs, dB(A),dB(C) etc etc.

Potentially very interested in the track day.

The case when I've done trackdays in my Lotus are MSV (and other circuits when tested) Static tests are recorded normally 0.5m and 45degrees to the exhaust with the engine at 3/4 max revs.
