Aston Martin only track day

22nd OK for me.

Tyres question.

Corsas on the rear will be nearing end of life by April.

I could replace them before the track day, but this seems a little hard on the new ones.

I could use the old ones for the track day, but then risk being on the limit for the drive home.

Ideally, it would be nice to turn up with replacements, see how the old ones get on, then change to the new ones for second half / drive home.

Are there facilities at Rockingham for this kind of thing?

Hi Dave,

That's a good question, from memory there are no onsite facilities for this.... Same with all track days unless your with a race team with spares etc...

I for one will trailer my car there and bring a set of track slag wheels for the day...

I had an offer from someone to supply friendly track day assistance which I am currently chasing up...

But if your tyres are near replacing id just go with a new set, unless your going to be taking kerb and flat out all day long I think you will be ok...

You could book a mobile tyre fitter like Event Tyres to come there and do it for you?

Had one of those (mobile tyre guy) as a client, he is still around. Is there interest in seeing if he wants to come up? Changing low profiles should be OK. Could order up new tyres in advance for the enthusiastic drivers 😄

I’ve just popped myself on the reserve list. I’ve been deliberating for a couple of weeks after seeing the post. The usual “now every place is taken, I wish I’d signed up” feeling has just kicked me up the rear!

If anyone does cancel, I’ll immediately move my name up, plus, this suggestion of bringing wives, might just make a weekend of it and as someone already pointed out, a driver all the way home after maybe a few at the end of the day!

LOL I know for a fact that we do not actually need to cap the numbers at 40 so I will increase the number to 45 as I'm sure when it comes to nearer the day some people will have things come up and drop out etc. So I will increase the number to 45. I also know that even if we had 50 cars there, there is plenty of room for everyone.

I bet most people will manage 10-15 minutes tops driving at speed on any one time out so we wont all be out there together.

The other reason I wanted to cap it was so that when it comes to the money side we all know exactly what we are paying, once we have all paid, its then awkward if some one else wants to come along and would cause a headache. LOL

Looking back Bob restricted his to 25 cars and I don't think there were ever more than 5 or 6 cars out at any one time so the track was virtually empty. Look at the video I posted up earlier. Even with 45 I still think the track will seem pretty deserted.

Very much looking forward to this. Please can I re-suggest that the event is divided into 2 groups, A and B, which are on track alternatively?

Eg:

9:00 to 9:30 - Group A
9:30 to 10:00 - Group B
10:00 to 10:30 - Group A
10:30 to 11:00 - Group B
etc, etc

On similar events I have attended this works well - traffic is reduced and both drivers + cars are given regular breaks.

If anyone does look to arrange a mobile tyre fitter to be there on the day, please let me know as I'd be keen to use them too.

LOL your welcome, As mentioned there is loads of room for us all.... And a possible splitting of the groups may be a good idea too.

Your wife should come along too, mines coming, shes even having a drive as well... And cost if we get all 45 places filled will be under £300-00 est... Final maths come later.

Compare that to a Gold track day at most circuits are well over £450-00 and your out there on track with all sorts, this one we are all in the same boat, same interests and just a fun day out.

There is a fuel station on site but as with all race track stations the price is slightly higher. I always bring my own.
