Did your friend with the drone get any footage?
Ha yes and I have been chasing him..... He is a very busy boy I know this much but he will be getting all the footage together.

I will post it up as soon as I get it.

Finally some video footage, apologies most of it centres around my car but you get the drift smile

I have more which I'm uploading later.

Awesome, nice to get a feel for how it went, looks epic. Great way to hear all the various iterations of Aston side by side - any of those cars with the AMR toys on?

I see someone with what looks like Hammerhead Silver with yellow accents, looks fun - i'm looking for ideas to how i can jazz up my hammerhead v12vs for LM24 biggrin

Such a brilliant day!

That V8 DB11 tried extremely hard but couldn't get past me smile

The last vid is a grid walk of all the cars ( noticed it's low view count )

Nice one Matt. Amazing how slow everything looks when filming from a static position....

Great vids, very enjoyable to watch. And a great day; brilliant and one of the most rewarding track days we have done.

But, at the risk of incurring wrath.... for one or two drivers, wasn't the idea to let faster cars/drivers past in a polite manner to let the faster driver also enjoy the day? Polite giving way definitely seen in action on the vids.

But both whilst passenger in the impressive works-driver Rapide and when out and about it was on occasion frustrating to come up behind a committed moving-chicane, and an uninvited overtake would have been thoroughly bad form and potentially risky, given that the driver was either trying to block or was fixated one the road ahead. In fact whilst I was passenger the Rapide held back for most of a lap then did an impressive out-braking at the end of he straight but we were both a bit baffled by the necessity to do so when the Rapide driver was clearly faster and had been looming on the mirrors of the other car for some time.

Per the intro at the trackday, a few corners is one thing as it is tricky sometimes, but perhaps some rear-view mirror cleaner required next year? Just a thought...

Very well said, I was not the fastest, nor willing to prove anything, and I let all and sundry past as I would have happily had a quite track, however, your comments ring true as I heard grumblings in the pit lane that one or two were not willing to let those that caught up with them then overtake, rather taking the obstinate line around the track.

I gave the DB11 and anyone else nudging my bumper the chance to pass.
What I'm not going to do is unduly slow down for something going at a similar pace.

The way that Rapide was driven was indeed a sight to behold.
Mind you, I'm glad I'm not buying it wink

I heard not one grumble from anyone on the day.

Might you have been running at FTD level, and consequently no one needed to overtake you ?

( Just an idle coffee break observation. )

It sounds as though everyone enjoyed their day.

I grumbled quite a bit but that was because I was a bit sore headed from the shandies the night before, nothing to do with getting past people. smile

The works cars were being driven very well and they both passed me when it was safe to do so on occassion, as well as a couple of times getting stuck behind me on the infield sections (which has few good opportunities to pass). On any trackday the overtaking vehicle is responsible for carrying out the overtake safely without intentionally impeding the other vehicle. If the car being followed is slower then it shouldnt be that difficult for a skilled driver to find a safe overtake opportunity regardless of the car in front giving way.

Driving around a track expecting everyone to quickly move aside when you appear behind them is being unreasonable. I got stuck behind groups of slow cars on a few sessions, so I simply pulled off into the pit lane and stopped, or drove back out, problem solved. I did not expect them all to make way, they would be concentrating on their own lines and having fun.

Just my POV. Perhaps others had a different experience?

I think exactly that Soofsayer

I could imagine though if you were on some 'professional' track day with limited time slots how the overtaking thing might cause grumbles

But there was sooooo much track time available that it really wasn't a problem as far as I could see and I fully understood if someone was more focused on avoiding putting their pride and enjoy into the wall rather than checking their mirrors constantly.

I think that was the real beauty of the day, so much time and space and as someone mentioned earlier no 'macho' stuff.

Second that view. I thought the best bit was dipping in and out because there was a lot of time. Looking forward to going again and happy to get involved in organising if required.

I briefly got a snidge annoyed at the lack of rear view mirror manners once. So, I popped the headlamps when it was still happening on the next lap and was then indicated to pass smile

Its not about heroics but it's unfair to stifle someone who wants to go at their own pace and not the pace of the car you have caught up with. There is a perfectly fair standard practice as mentioned in the briefing - and to be fair I never saw a blue flag which would, err, help flag this up to the newbies and those maybe on Chinese tyres smile.

Its all good though - 4 minutes of my day smile Book us in for next year Paul!!!!

I`m sure whoever was in front just thought it was a special effect that the Battlestar Galactica was looming in their mirror! wink

On the overtaking front, people pulled aside for me pretty much at the earliest opportunity, and I feel I did likewise, as can be witnessed in Matt`s 4th video as I bow down to the DB11 V8.
From my perspective there was nothing to complain about on this front. Andy and I had a bit of fun for a few laps as he was pulling me in on the straights and a couple of corners, but then I was a smidgen quicker through some of the tighter stuff and accelerating out of the corners, and it was just a good driving experience. During this process we both pulled over for the quicker vehicles and after a while I pulled aside too so I could look at Andy`s fine butt, ahhh, sorry, that of his DB9 I should say!

LOL - that makes a nice change from the usual 'land yacht' comments from my regular driving buddies smile I'm still beyond loving the pic Dean but cant find a bl00dy frame big enough to put it in biggrin
