Who would you recommend fit replacement tyres for you ? Would you do a main dealer (assuming they would even fit non-AM preferred brands), or would you use an independent specialist ?

I'm based in Altrincham, Cheshire if anyone has any good recommendations.

TIA - Pete.

I just use a local tyre place, I can sit and watch them do it, nothing special about it. I tell them the torque and tyre pressure. Never had an issue, the lads there all want to talk about the car as they dont see them very often

I have always used AM Leeds JCT as they are as cheap as and often cheaper than the local independents are.

When I had a Porsche, the main dealer (same group actually) was always a lot more expensive, so I used to use a local independent and never had any problems either. Just make sure you use a garage who has one of the newer type lever-less machines so nothing touches your alloys, to avoid any scratches or marks!

Hi Pete, the Stratstone dealership in Wilmslow opened a new service department a couple of years ago and when I went to the opening event they made a big deal about the new tyre/wheel equipment. I’ve had a very positive experience dealing with them. It’s also on your doorstep.

It sure is Doc. I've used them for servicing and warranty bits and pieces the last couple of years, but not had recourse (until now) for any tyre work. Perhaps I'll give them a call and see what they can offer.

The link for DTW is fine as far as it goes . It doesn't help if you want to lift the car so as to place it on stands at the jacking points. I have my own lifting points, but it would be good to see some 'official' guidance on safe alternatives.

I had a bad experience with a Cayenne I used to own, tyre fitter damaged my wheel and blamed me for having 20 inch wheels!
I wouldn't go to any tyre fitter but someone who is used to work on special cars.
I would only let my dealer touch my car, I don't trust the local tyre fitter.
Be sure to be present to show him the jacking points. There's a story on the net of a guy who had his Vantage totalled using the local tyre fitter.
