In Switzerland the owner has the plates registered to them not the car so they swap between cars. This is what I’ve been told but someone may tell me differently.

Well this sounds marvellous.
Please help to find some of those ladies with short hair, who just love campaigning.

My plan would be to use my 1960's car for the main registration. Free road tax and from this May, no more MoTs required.
All of my other cars would then carry the same number plate.
It would save me thousands of pounds every year, and all those traffic cameras would be very confused.
What a brilliant idea.

In about 400 years time, the savings might be enough to buy me a GT12 Roadster. - wink

Haha, but you;re not far off the mark.

It is done to save tax - you pay full whack on the main car and then a heavily reduced amount on the additional car. The plate holder tilts and you can simply swap the licence plate around. The downside being that you can only have one car on the road at a time, but it clearly works well when you have a series of "toys" that you take out in turn

An interesting method Rob, but with dissapoinment for owners of numerous cars.

I did not realise such a scheme even existed. Governments normally want every Pound or Swiss Franc they can get, but your description appears to indicate strict limits.
Main car probably has to be the one with the highest tax rate, and no doubt only one additional car on the same number plate is allowed.

Tell the campaign ladies to stand down. Nothing to be gained here.

If anyone wants to have their own Swiss type scheme, SORN your Aston for the winter months.
We would not mind so much, if we did not hear so many examples of government waste.
