I am probably wrong, but I had thought that the replacement for the present Vanquish, is going to be named DBS.
If correct, and therefore that becomes the top mainstream model, which car will use the Vanquish name ?
The confusion comes in the order things have happened. Initially it appeared the DBS was going to launch this year, and was in final test mule stage at the moment (apparently it's a handy bit of kit and has the AM equivalent of hyper drive when the throttle pedal's depressed biggrin). Then Dr Palmer indicated the Vanquish would arrive this year. I thought the DBS and Vanquish were to be different cars still.

If the DBS was to take the place of Super GT, it would free up the Vanquish name for something else; my guess would be the mid-engine car in a few years time.

Why I'm confused was something I saw last year, that was meant to be a new Vanquish design...
In conclusion, don't count out a Gen 2 Cygnet laugh

DBS with a group of heavily armed bad guys in a DBX to show how much room there was in it, creeping up on him in a stealthy all electric silent mode.

Thinking outside the box, there might be no car...but there could be a submarine... a Q branch modified Neptune, job's a good'un.
The submarine might be berthed outside the Vulcan penthouse on the Miami river.....

Then there was the brief showing of the Z3 in Goldeneye. A bit naff really.

.......
Pierce Brosnan era Bond likes his BMW's, along with the 7 series and the Z3, he drives a very nice Z8 in World is Not Enough, then rode the R1200C in Tomorrow Never Dies. Awful films....

The Z8 was quite nice I thought...
One must remember, Daniel Craig's first Bond car was technically a Mondeo... (part of the Ford product placement that started in Die Another Day).

Hire car

Looks like being discussed at moment as AP Twitter shows 4 modern Bond AMs at Gaydon foyer (if include Vanquish in Die Another Day), DB10, DBS from Quantum and assume a Casino Royale DBS (but hard to see if roll damaged in photo).

I don't know whether AP likes to play teasing games, but have you noticed the picture on the back wall ?

Due for short role this time - if plot rumour of quit, marry, family, family killed, 007 returns then

options for a DBX blown up &

possible short chase in DBS on return to service?

The Z8 was a kit car as BMW had only made one shell at the time.

It's not unusual, the Vanquish and XKR in DaD had the guts ripped out of them and were powered by Ford small blocks with 4WD systems. They did a decent job dubbing the V12 soundtrack back on in post production biggrin

Am I correct in saying, the first time the DBS was in a Bond film, it was a DB9 with altered bodywork, because it was then too early for a complete DBS to be available ?

Yep, the car used for the crash sequence was a DB9 dressed up as a DBS. Some of the back story is available here, quite a good read: http://www.evo.co.uk/aston-martin/db9/8373/aston-m...

As opposed to Quantum of Solace where one of the stunt drivers drove a real DBS into a wall & wrote it off! Oh the pain! cry
