Oops - bit late to the party on this one, but here goes.
Placed an order for an early 4.3 V8 Vantage but due to one thing and another I ended up cancelling and getting my deposit back. Ran two Porsche 997 C2S's then for the next two years then
2009 - 4.7 V8 Vantage, Onyx Black, Sports Seats and all black interior. Ran the car for a year and loved it to pieces. During the first service a conversation struck up with the sales team which went along the lines of, "its the best car I have ever owned, I love it. The only thing I would consider swapping it for is one of those" <points at a V12 Vantage in the showroom>, "but you wouldn't sell me one of those for what I would be prepared to pay". The salesman said, "Hmmm, we might".... 1 month later...
2010 - V12 Vantage, Meterorite Silver, Lightweight Seats and all black interior. Ran the car for 2 years very happy indeed, then one day my local dealer just happned to get a brand new V12 Vantage in stock in a rather interesting spec.... Similar conversation and.... 1 month later
2012 - V12 Vantage, Morning Frost White, Lightweight Seats and Chancellor Red Alcantara and Black Leather trim. Ran the car for 4 years (which is a record by a huge margin for me, having owned 28 cars in 30 years). Best car ever and found it very hard to decide where to go next, so decided to get something cheaper (to avoid disappointment) and go back to Porsche.
2016 - Ordered and took delivery of a Cayman GT4, which after just 3 months had me back in the Aston showroom, debating buying either a GT8 or a soon to be announced V12VSM. Decided on the V12VSM, factory build to my personal dream spec, which then took another 9 months to arrive.
2017 - V12 Vantage S, Kermit Green (Q paint), Lightweight Seats and Pure Black Alcantara and Leather interior with Lime Stitching, Various Q trim items, V12 Zagato Wheels and AMR Aerokit (added later). Quite simply my dream car, it's a total beast to drive and looks the dogs (IMHO).
Opps - better add our latest purchase a 5th Aston, to this thread...Placed an order for an early 4.3 V8 Vantage but due to one thing and another I ended up cancelling and getting my deposit back. Ran two Porsche 997 C2S's then for the next two years then

2020 - AMR Rapide, Scintilla Silver, Pure Black Alcantara and Leather interior with AMR Lime stitching and welt. AMR Lime exterior highlights, B&O and a few other bits...

Very interesting thread with many serial enthusiasts.
I started lurking on PH about six months ago and became familiar with those that contribute often. Looking through this thread however there are many members that I do not recognize. I wonder if those I do not recognize have moved on to another brand or whether they simply lost interest in visiting the Aston section of PH.
Well up until this morning the last post was in 2018!I started lurking on PH about six months ago and became familiar with those that contribute often. Looking through this thread however there are many members that I do not recognize. I wonder if those I do not recognize have moved on to another brand or whether they simply lost interest in visiting the Aston section of PH.

Its a keeper, they both are.... There is however an almost identical spec one for sale at AM Newcastle right now... Only 47 of the 188 worldwide AMR Rapides are in the UK so can’t be that many in this colour combo.

Hello Rob, OP here.
When this topic originally began to gather pace, it was perhaps a surprise for us to realise just how hugely important, existing customers must be to AML.
Looking back, it is now clear that the VH period has joined a limited group, of Aston Martin golden eras. At that time, the prices depreciated very slowly (after the 2nd year), so it was not too expensive and was also a worthwhile step, for owners to move up through the range. Many owners took the 4.3; 4.7; 4.7S; V12V route.
I think you are correct to suggest there must be various reasons for people leaving this forum.
Many drivers like to change their cars fairly often, and perhaps loyalty to Aston Martin is now weaker than it was. Some have told us about going to Porsches and McLarens, but many simply disappeared.
There is only so much we can talk about, so continual repetition must put many off.
During the IPO period, interest split between the business and financial aspect of Aston Martin, and the cars. There were some excellent technical business discussions, but for those only interested in car talk, it must have been very boring.
Always good though, to see new people here, discovering the special joys of owning an Aston Martin and perhaps become serial buyers.

I used to regularly post in the Aston section but after I sold my DB9 a few years ago I found I had fewer things to contribute as time passed by, although I did still follow many of the threads. Its certainly a lot quieter then it used to be and a quick look at some of the profiles of some of the most prolific posters of the time it seems that they haven't posted on PH for some years. Some others seem to post regularly in other sections but not here so much.I started lurking on PH about six months ago and became familiar with those that contribute often. 2009 V8 Vantage Coupe, manual, Sports Pack, Onyx Black with Obsidian Black, red stitching, red calipers, red taillights. Bought new, this was my lifelong Aston Martin dream realized. Still have it, absolutely love it. For me, it's a sweet spot in the V8V range -- original design, 4.7 engine, Sports Pack, DBS-style ski slope.
2005 Vanquish S, Onyx with Obsidian, black stitching, red calipers. Bought in 2015, still have it. Always wanted a V12, always wanted a Newport Pagnell Aston, always loved the Vanquish. Epic car, one of the greatest supercar-GTs ever made.
Wanted a DB4 since I was 5. Same thing today, except I'm not 5 anymore.

Thank you Jon and 4Q for the replies -
As a new owner I am grateful to the seasoned owners on this forum as I learn not only about the typical mechanical issues, but the long and sometimes rocky history of Aston Martin itself. I am also grateful for forums like this as they help me feel connected to an Aston community. Unfortunately where I live (Maine & Georgia) there are very few Aston’s so I vicariously follow posts of Aston fleets meandering through the UK and beyond.
Best...............Rob

Lifted this pic off their website. It could just be the light but the shade of that door looks different. Suggest anyone bidding gains clarification. It could just be the door not sitting quite right but best to check.
or just message the owner here maybe?https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&...
I’ve been fortunate enough to have quite a few Aston Martins, and have been thrilled with each of them:
1. 1999 DB7
2. 2006 Vantage
3. 2009 Vantage
4. 2012 Vantage
5. 2012 Virage
6. 2015 Vanquish
7. 2018 Vanquish S
I bought the DB7 and the Virage with about 500 miles on them each. The others I bought new. One black/tan car, all the rest have been some version of silver. The current Vanquish S is a stunning Magnetic Silver/Kestrel combination.....one of the prettiest cars I’ve ever seen.
Not at all happy about the current design direction of the new cars. But, I think the designs would be easy to correct, to get back to the resolved beauty of past Aston Martins. I could do it in a matter of days, since the design flaws are so glaring.

Great Scott that’s a lot of Astons! Please share pictures if you’re able, particularly interested in the magnetic silver / kestrel combo. Cheers
I have had the pleasure (mainly) of 4 Astons in my life, all of them Vantage.
My first was a 2006 4.3 manual Vantage in Titanium silver
Then a 2009 4.7 sport shift Vantage in Toro red
Followed by a 2011 sport shift 4.7 Vantage S in Tungsten
And finally my current car 2016 facelift 4.7 Vantage S in Stratus white
But I’m getting a serious itch which will need scratching of the new Vantage in Tungsten with sport exhaust.......here we go again! Lol

That door doesn’t match. Didn’t on the earlier pics shown on the linked thread. Can’t believe someone has painted a single door without blending Gassing Station | Aston Martin | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
