Plastic into Glass

Does anyone know if you can put the insides of a vantage plastic key into a glass one? The buttons are really worn on my plastic key and i have a slightly chipped glass key i could use if it's just a straight swap

IIRC it has been done. Read about the swap in a forum but unfortunately I don't remember which one.
