New Vantage Reviews
Discussion
Of all of the reviews I’ve seen the car wow one is the best....it’s an impartial view but also points out some minor flaws.....the others just seem to be...better say nothing but good things otherwise Aston won’t let me review their cars again....
My personal view...good car , right step forward but not for me.....ugly front....better with grill slats....
Won’t be buying one...as you all know am a gt sort of person....think I’ll be sticking with the vanq S....for a while yet....

Or lend them a new Vantage to drive for the next 6 months, when they didn't really care for the last Vantage.AstonV said:

As much as I like James and the content he produces, it was frustrating to hear he was being given a car as a long termer, when his own car history had very little to do with the marque. Knowing how early you had to get in there for a build slot this year, somebody buying a car has lost out to someone now renting one and filming the experience. Of course it provides AM with a way of getting real world experiences out there without their own expensive PR campaigns. That's just how the YT model is evolving though, and vloggers are becoming freelance journos (or near as).I think the reality of the situation was that AM were always going to give one of the big UK YouTubers a car for 6 months, and JWW seemed the most sensible candidate, because:
1) Tim (Shmee) is a busy bee and his schedule and size of fleet might not allow a lot of content.
2) Sam (STG) might be getting a Vantage anyway, and what's better than letting someone spend money on the car and then film it for their own purposes. It becomes a win-win for AM.
3) Paul's (SoL) doing his drifting thing and prefers Mercs.
4) Tom's (TGE) part-time and clowns around a bit. That said, he can be quite funny, and has a magnificent beard.

If anyone it should have gone to the Shmee. He genuinely loves the brand. Has owned several and would be a better ambassador for Aston. Kind of a slap in the face to go with the JWW IMO. Doubt JWW would be caught dead in an Aston of his own. Comes off way to fkng pretentious and smarmy.I think the reality of the situation was that AM were always going to give one of the big UK YouTubers a car for 6 months, and JWW seemed the most sensible candidate, because:

I'd agree, but it's likely to be a schedule thing more than anything. I wouldn't be surprised if Tim were to buy a Vantage in the not so distant future , so the thing that irks is more that someone who's very much a Ferrari person (JWW - 430 Scud, 458 Speciale, F12, 812SF on order etc), suddenly has a thing for Astons if a free long termer is the result. Aston aren't as strict when it comes to negative reporting as other marques (Ferrari and Lambo famously blacklisting some journos for expressing non glowing opinions in the past).I'm only jealous, I've not got round to editing content for my channel yet, and need to go cashmere sweater shopping and somehow fit myself into some hipster skinny jeans first

So is that a pre production car on the basis AP has tweeted Car No 1 is yet to be built?Shmee150 first drive
I think he's fair in his review, the front is not going to be to everyone's taste and the base price concerned me when I first heard it, 125k, with options pushing one to 150k and that's before they offer carbon ceramics and the sports exhaust. While it's fair to say the 911 GT3's price is a fairy tale because you cannot get one without buying a dozen Porsche's beforehand the AMG GTR is something you can order and will be a compelling competitor for buyers.

I can't stand those wheels, they look dirty all the time, yuk. Oh and those exhaust exits look awful.
I hate gloss and matte black wheels, and the standard exhausts on the Vantage look too small for the size of the diffuser that surrounds them and the hole they sit in, the sports exhaust with quad pipes look better but I think a good aftermarket with fatter pipers would look the nuts!Edited by cayman-black on Friday 20th April 18:52

He was very diplomatic in his review. Sounds like it is a nice car, but not a great car. Subjective looks, sound meh, BIG jump in price over outgoing. I have a feeling walked away disappointed. Grill bars won’t help. The proportions are all wrong. The grill opening is too large for the front of the car. The headlights are too small for the grill size. The rear bumper is too busy, the tailpipes are not proportional to the tailpipes surround. No interior can be taken seriously with the navigation unit stuck on top of the dash instead on being integrated into the dash design. Won’t be buying one
I could go on.

What I don't understand is how Aston Martin let this happen? The Vantage had to be a home run and it's not. They had YEARS to evolve the current model into something incredible, instead they unveil a car with looks good only at certain angles, certain colors and certain lighting. A messy dash that looks like the face of ET every time you look at it and an engine good in every way sounds like crap. I hope I'm wrong but this could be devastating for AM.I could go on.
