Seen these on ebay and wondered if anyone can make them or has any for sale?

I would definitely sign up if some could be made, especially after some of the stories going around regarding jacking in wrong areas!

I haven’t looked under the Aston yet, but made some for my other cars by cutting down ice hockey pucks... worked perfectly and not a difficult job.

Hi AMTony,

I make these jack pads. There are actually a surprising number of variants needed to cover all the models. I agree that in many cases, you can use a cut down hockey puck. However, for the V8V roadster, and S, the rear pad is very intricate to fit around the undertrays - a puck won't work for those.

If you need any more detail, I'd be happy to answer any questions - I have a couple of threads on 6speed under the user name HSMPrecision.

Thanks,

matt

AmTony..I bought these pads off Matt on 6speed site.

We use them all the time...fits and works great.
I have found on my car I remove the rubber ring but put it back on when done.

Matt is a very good guy and honest!

Safe driving...Duke

I use the pads for BMW/Mini and they work well avoiding the undertray back and front (DB9). These are next level and stay in the holes which would be useful when lining up my car lift.

Its the US bit that kind of kills it, hence why Inwas asking if any in the UK. I think it was Velocity that made a lovely stainless set, think they were quite reasonably priced as well?

Am not doubting how good these are, its just that our UK taxes mean that the price will increase beyond belief, especially by the time Royal Mail and HMRC have finished.

Am back in US next year so maybe I can arrange for some to be posted to me there?

If I’d got some accurate dimensions of a set, it looks like 2 front and 2 back I could get them costed in Alloy, Stainless or Nylon and I’d be shocked if they came out that expensive. scratchchin

Nylon or hard rubber would be nice so no metal to metal contact.

I've been using these for the last 3 years when jacking up my V8 Roadster and never ever had a problem - just a tad cheaper than $200 !!!!!!!

Velocity is out of Canada. Those were aluminium too not stainless.

HMS- Matt is USA. Nice stuff custom made.

To save on taxes...why not contact Bradford Rose and ask them if they sell or could make for you.

Best deal is the puck..good luck

Do you have to cut them into shape or just use as is ?

My solution was to mill slots in the side of ice hockey pucks that slide over the edge of the under body cover or sill. This holds them in place before the jack or lift are offered up. I prefer supporting the car on rubber hence avoiding metal to metal contact (and the cost was less than a tenner).

I just used as is last time, the one I have is a rectangular shape so easy to place lengthways....Im only jacking up a side to get it on jack stands to do brakes etc.

The slit hockey puck is ingenious - I like that idea.

The trickiest cars are the V8V roadster and S, and V12V. The rear undertray greatly complicates the adapter shape. I'd really like to see how the factory does it (and why they are all so different).

I completely understand the jack pads aren't a good solution for everyone - I'm comfortable using BMW shaped one if I need to quickly lift a wheel. However, if you are dropping your car at a shop, the jack pads make it really hard to lift the car in any other way than from the factory points. (especially given the penalty for picking the wrong spot, where a car could be severely damaged).

Matt (HSM Precision on 6speed)

full disclosure - I'm the maker/seller of the pads shown in the 1st post.

Matt,

They look beautiful. Have you ever thought of laminating the top with a thin layer of nylon or hard rubber of some sort to eliminate metal to metal contact?

Thanks - yes, I've looked at some self stick closed cell foam to add to the top. I just need to find a good way to cut it. I have access to a laser cutter, but concerned about gumming up the optics with this material.
