New DBS Superleggera

. . . . believe me, Aston Martin really want to share all the information on the new DBS Superleggera.
But not to that Frenchman, who slipped in to a previous model preview with a camera. It probably still haunts everyone at Gaydon.
Hopefully monsieur at least had the decency to buy a car, following that incident.
I do like the centre console of the development car. A return to tradition.
Perhaps the centre screen even folds down, to continue the smooth appearance, when screen not required.
I think model announcements are usually on Wednesdays, to fit with motoring magazines.
Perhaps 27th June is the day.

Good way to P customers off Kevin.
Wasnt aware that AM had a ‘preferential’ client list.

What company doesn’t have a high end client list? Who do you think they approach for the Zagato builds? Vulcan? If they spend millions with Aston why shouldn’t they get special treatment?

With the Vantage preview my dealer offered me a spot, I simply asked them about it. I ended up going with a couple of questionable gentlemen off here but if you’ve got a good relationship with your dealer it shouldn’t be too hard Wasnt aware that AM had a ‘preferential’ client list.

A little harsh, all one need do is ask their dealer. I was invited to model launches which I clearly wasn't interested in. I was invited to model launches before I did spend big bucks on a couple of Vanquishes. I genuinely think the AML network (ok exception being a couple of franchises we all know about anyway!) is really client friendly regardless of age or cost of current Aston or even lack of one. It's also a fair ask not to give away too much about a car not released to the public yet.Wasnt aware that AM had a ‘preferential’ client list.
It's worth giving your dealer a call and asking if you can go along and have a look, they might surprise you Peoples circumstances change, everyone knows this, someone who cannot afford a new DBS now might well be able to next year and dealers know this so want to please. Give it a go and ask them, you could be in Gaydon next week looking at it

Not on social media of any kind so wouldn't see anything listed.
My comments are merely questioning why AM would show anyone anything that is meant to be confidential and not release to all at the same time.
Just my thoughts.
If they were going to have exclusive reveals of their new range topping Super GT you'd think they'd invite people who've bought the previous range topping Super GT My comments are merely questioning why AM would show anyone anything that is meant to be confidential and not release to all at the same time.

As a previous Porsche owner I know all about the 'special customer' treatment, and it's part of the reason why I'm no longer a Porsche customer.
You could argue that it'll hurt them in the longer term but as long as PCP interest rates stay low manufacturers and dealerships don't have to care about their customers.

When a new model is announced by AML they often seem to say, we are unveiling our new car today and x of them have already been sold.
Demonstrating demand, probably creates additional demand. A sales tactic, which presumably sells premium cars.
Making potential customers feel special and privileged, maybe weakens their inclination to say no.
Looking at it a different way, perhaps it is better not to have an invitation Tony.
The initial new models, are frequently not the best versions of a model.
The 4.3 Vantage, 3 years later became the 4.7 Vantage.
The DB11, 2 years later became the DB11 AMR.
The Vanquish became the Vanquish S.
and so on.

Creates an-ti-ci-pat-ion and a buzz (especially on social media - all the rage these days...) Its also a great way of making loyal customers feel special and involved. I applaud it and if I was interested too, and had the time, I would make the effort to ensure that my interest and love of the marque was so clearly known...My comments are merely questioning why AM would show anyone anything that is meant to be confidential and not release to all at the same time.

It's a nightmare for the dealers and AML. The day I went I believe there were meant to be six guests, four didn't bother to turn up!!!
Was that one with quite an early start? I declined, mainly because of the time I’d have to leave home to get there, but easy (albeit not really acceptable) to see how some would have accepted and then changed their mind on then day. Hoping to see it fairly soon, and I want to like it, but it’ll take something very special indeed to make me change.

One possibility is that helps get production underway... if nobody views them then they will wait for launch and have been making "generic" models for show rooms. When people visit early they have the chance to spec/design their car and get production underway. Meaning the clients who do buy one will have one of the very first on the road and in their design choice which actually AM get the product on the road. OR I could be completely wrong and they just to make people feel "special"My comments are merely questioning why AM would show anyone anything that is meant to be confidential and not release to all at the same time.

Forgive my ignorance on these matters as I have never been invited to one of these “special” viewings. Is any information acquired deemed to be confidential due to an unwritten rule? Is it usual practice for viewers/prospective buyers to be obliged to sign a confidentiality agreement with AML? I would have thought that in the current social media age that we live in, information control/release is a very difficult area for AML to police without some form of documentation in place. Although I guess the occasional PH post from AML HQ does help to keep people quiet! Sorry for the thread divergence. Just curious that’s all.

Everyone signs an NDA on entry to the eventsBest Regards
Minglar
In fact, visiting the factory for almost any reason tends to start with signing an NDA
Policing them, or people interpreting exactly what is deemed confidential, is sometimes a touch more difficult
Going back to the issue of invites, I must say it's not rocket science but people do have to put in a little legwork. Most cars are talked about publicly for many, many months before launch. There has been plenty of chatter for instance, about the 'vanquish replacement'. If you pick up the phone to a dealer and register interest, there's a fair chance they will get in touch about these types of events (most invites are dealer led, not Gaydon led)
If you cultivate a relationship with a specific dealer, i.e. you don't shop around every time you get a service or buy a new car, in relative terms you are more likely to get an invite. If you tell the dealer you want to sign a letter of intent......etc, etc
Dealers aren't mind readers - they get an allocation and it's not difficult to imagine which people they will invite - the ones chomping at the bit to buy the car in question
