New DBS Superleggera
Discussion
The Vanquish is/was entire carbon bodied I can't imagine they'd go back on that for their range topping GT, the new car will have a new chassis though, and I think that's where a substantial weight saving can be made, the hydraulic steering will likely be replaced by electric which will be another saving, also some of the components can be changed to higher tolerance lighter materials as they do with Porsche GT's and the interior will certainly get a pass, carbon seats etc. Then there's the fact that the Vanquish S was limited to 201 mph and this will have over 100 more horses in it so it should go like stink.
Really enjoying this thread, some great theories.
IMO it'll be based on the DB11 chassis, carbon-bodied, wick turned up on the 5.2L motor, carbon brakes etc etc. Not sure it'll be 'stripped out' doesn't seem to fit the marque. In any event it's great to see the Superleggera badge back on an Aston, the last time I saw one it was on a nice black DB6 in 1985. Price tag? £10k (yes you read it right!)

I hope and expect this to be a proper unlimited production GT.
Like Ferrari Versione Speciale models I think AMR will be used for limited production stripped out special at the end of the model run.
So my crystal ball tells me we will see DBS Superleggera and DBS AMR.
Think F12 and F12 tdf.

They might squeeze an S version in there somewhere too. And possibly even a Zagato
Really looking forward to seeing this though. Got to be aiming for a 0-60 a whisker over 3 seconds
Edited to add: I also like that AP is using the hashtag #torqueisbeautiful

So is it A Touring resurrected design, or
B Touring resurrected trade mark used under license for royalty fees? and, hopefully not the third alternative C...... messy trade mark dispute and possible renaming
Anyway, it's kind of brand/name dilution - don't wish to be negative but does DBS name need anything else? And just because you have great names does adding them together give you the sum? Just muddies the existing brand/names IMO

From Wiki
The superleggera system is no longer used in high-volume automobile production for a number of reasons. Primarily, a superleggera body cannot meet modern impact resistance standards, and the cost of manufacture and galvanic corrosion between the aluminum body panels and the steel tubular frame are also prohibitive factors. Additionally, the frame tubes used to construct a superleggera body are too small and of unsuitable material for mounting suspension components, so a chassis is required, a disadvantage not found in spaceframe and other chassis systems. Car makers such as Bristol, which had aircraft industry experience, were more successful in countering galvanic corrosion than other manufacturers
Superleggera is a trademark owned by Carrozzeria Touring Superleggera s.r.l., the modern incarnation of the firm that patented the system in 1936.

700 -800 hp - Hopefully don't burn the heretic for asking - will it be 4WD?
Thats a lota lota power to put down via two wheels in the dry let alone damp or wet.
Yes you can modulate it via the right foot but very easy to spin up in anything but bone dry and the most gentle of applications I would imagine. Had an E63 AMg 2WD RS6 4Wd and now DB9 and to be honest more than about 600hp + torque in the wet with 2wd I cant think will be fun.
ps I'm not a driving God.

I CAN SAY NO MORE THAN THIS..... I saw it today
Hmmm. I’m sure it’s lovely but this reminds me of the comments after the new Vantage secret reveals. And that turned out well...
I think we can be more confident this time, because the 'flagship' model has to appeal to existing Aston Martin owners.
Many Vanquish buyers have purchased by traded up from other AM models.
Interesting information posted about the Superleggera construction technique, and the trademark owned by Carrozzeria Touring Superleggera s.r.l.
Hope not another GT3 naming difficulty, but doubt it, because there must have been recent liason ref. the DB4GT Continuation.
