Hi All,

After the fun on Sunday my brakes are now annoyingly squeaky when at low speed. The discs look quite mottled and I am thinking that the noise is a result of lots of dust between the pads and discs, the alloys are filthy, first time I have seen them looking dirty so they have been worked very hard.

Can I use brake cleaner, or is there an alternative safe way to give the pads and discs a bit of a clean without resorting to tools?

Thanks in advance.

Use only mild soap and water and rinse off with a regular hose (nothing high pressure). Don't even think about using any strong chemicals near your discs.

Is the surface of the disk smooth like a mirror or rough? If rough, then the disk is damaged.

There's a thread on here about this, maybe also something in the Bamford Rose thread

Thanks for the replies. The discs are fine and braking is very good, I think it is buildup on the front of the pads. Havent had CCDs before hence my question about using brake cleaner. I will give the soapy solution a go.
