Am seriously considering a Huawei p20 pro - Mainly for the camera as that gets good write ups but it looks like a nice phone. I can handle the lack of SD card (128gb should see me right)...

Does anyone have one? If so, what's it like?

Thanks

I've a P10 Plus and my friend has the P20 Pro. I've messed around with his phone e extensively as well as an S9 and iPhone X. The Pro pisses on my Plus, frankly. Personally, I find it much better than the Samsung and Apple efforts with low light and the battery life is far superior.

I'm a fan of EMUI too over UX. It's a nice blend of all the features and can be presented either like iOS or with an App drawer. The notch isn't too much of an issue as it can be turned off if you want.

Face ID is much better than Huaweis facial recognition but it's not really that bad in reality, maybe taking a split second longerthan the X.

Overall, a very good phone with really good camera and premium feel IMO. Have a play with one first.

That's useful to know as I have an S7 at present and my girlfriend has an S8 - I was considering an S9, but it's still expensive and I'm not at a "must have the latest shiny Galaxy" stage of life any more hehe

Have you got a case on it?

Thought the P20s would have been up there with the S9 in price?

In Apac the P20 Pro is $1099-1200 and the S9 is $850-900

(Aus prices)

I would like one but cant quite justify the price that it costs here yet.

The contract price from O2 is really, really low... £31 a month including line rental...

Huawei supply a case in the box for their handsets. I have a Spigen one on my P10+ but am currently looking to get an official fabric one.

I've a Mate 10 Pro which is the same basic hardware but the camera isn't as good. However I find the photos it takes is superb, much much better than my previous Pixel XL and better than the Iphone 6s I had before that. I can imagine the P20 Pro takes even better photos. The phone is very very fast at doing anything and I find the interface very easy to use with some nice features. As others have said, it came with a clear silicon case and a screen protector already applied, which was a nice touch. These devices are also likely to be updated regularly as they are compatable with Project Treble. I also get a genuine 2 days usage out my Mate 10 Pro and it's a business phone so gets used and that's not with using it in Power Saving mode or Ultra Power Saving Mode. Seriously, very very good phones and considering I paid £500 brand new, an absolute bargain.

I think the old Nokia 1020 was the Concorde moment as far as phone cameras are concerned, imagine that camera with the latest processor and a decent operating system.

Funny just read a comparison between the two and the pro came out on top by far.

Not the 1020, but the similar-sensored 808, retested in 2017. Conclusion: not as good quality as (then) current high-end "cameraphones".
