I know this has been done before so apologies but not seen a recent one (unless i missed it?) - my insurance renewal has come for my Vantage V12S and whilst i think I've decent cover (Euro, trackdays) its also just over £1K. I'm happy to pay this if its the going rate.
A quick confused (yes i know who owns the site) search produces an Admiral quote in at £450
I'm not after a cheap as chips, relatively poor cover but just wondering who you guys are using for good cover with good service that is decent value Ideally i'd have Euro cover, trackday cover (although I'm unlikely to use it) and agreed value if there is such a thing for a non-classic?

Do you have only one car, a multi-car policy is a great way to bring down the cost. I have a multi-car with admiral and the cost of insuring both was less that the cost of insuring my Vanquish by itself.
Also very important is when you want the insurance from, if you say 'tomorrow' they will quote you 50% more than if you say 'three weeks'.
As for good providers, I've been told by multiple people that NFU are brilliant, I actually have house insurance with them but have been lazy about checking because Admiral keep offering us good deals.

Funnily enough a mate of mine recommended the RFU - he insures his mclaren through them....and it was less then half of the amount of the renewal from his then provider (which is the same company I'm currently with).
Admiral multi-car (or similar?) is an option but its the stories you hear re claim time that puts me off a bit?

Pete, I recommended the NFU, the Farming guys, not the Rugby Football Union (RFU) guys who I don't think do car insurance ....
I found Admiral to be cheap, for good reason - their prestige department are slightly more in-tune with your needs as a customer, but in the event of a claim, regardless of fault, you can by all means, use your own repairer, but it would cost you your excess and NCB. Excess wouldn't be such a worry as it could be refunded if a third party admitted fault. The most local repairer is likely to be an all makes, all models outfit and not an Aston specialist.
It took 3 months to get my Vantage door replaced, and it ended up being transported 100 miles away to Admiral's nearest approved AM body shop as I refused to have it repaired at the local Vauxhall body shop. The car came back with a new door, perfect paint match, but the door seal installed incorrectly. It was cheaper for me to pay to have that re-done at the local dealer, than take time off work to wait for a transporter to come and haul the car back across the country.
I ended up with the daily driver staying on with Admiral, but the Vanquish is now through private client cover elsewhere - much more expensive, but worth it IMO.

Very difficult to define “ value for money “ given it’s not until you have to claim do u find out.
Price isn’t necessarily the only decision - how much hassle do u potentially want in the event of such claim ?
I’m happy to insure my children’s cars through the likes of admiral but would not insure mine.
Either phone around the names already given or go to a broker , let him do all the work.
The latter might avoid all the hassle u get mid term or at renewal too.

I rarely comment on insurance questions but this pretty much sums it up.It took 3 months to get my Vantage door replaced, and it ended up being transported 100 miles away to Admiral's nearest approved AM body shop as I refused to have it repaired at the local Vauxhall body shop. I just don't understand why anyone would run the risk of a hit and miss service when insuring what many like to describe as their "pride and joy". Use Admiral et al for your DD's but there are top notch products out there that are far better suited for our cars IMHO.

Just to add that sometimes these “top notch products” can work out the same or cheaper for our DD’s than the typical high street insurers we naturally assume will be cheapest. I just don't understand why anyone would run the risk of a hit and miss service when insuring what many like to describe as their "pride and joy". Advocate for Locktons (actually Chubb) here. They are very good, offer you Euro & agreed value. I have my V12S with them.
You have to be an AMOC member to take the policy out, but they give you your first year free.

It might have been a one off, but it was a complete catalogue of errors.
In the end I had to pay AM Newcastle myself so they would release the car back and then wait for Locktons to pay me.
Like others have said, you can only comment on an insurer once youve had to claim and in my instance it was painful.
However, if they did provide a competitive quote next time, I would still consider them.
I am currently with Footman James and they seem ok to deal with.
I'm with Admiral (reluctantly) but it was over £1k cheaper than alternatives that were recommended. Unfortunately someone recently reversed into my Vantage while parked and drove off. Admiral have been okay so far. They did try to get me to go with their approved AM repairer even offering to reduce the excess to almost nothing, but eventually agreed that the car could go to AM Works which I'm obviously happy with. It took a little persuading but I did get there in the end.
Decided to change and renew with Locktons - bit cheaper, similar or slightly better cover and lower excesses. Still double the admiral quote but I think it’s worth it for type of cover. A small bonus is I also get amoc membership for the rest of the year too so will see what that’s like?

i use chubb (via quantum as chubb don't sell direct http://www.quantumplc.com/) for house and cars - not the cheapest but offer lots of benefits and the customer service is the best you will find. I think the db9 costs around gbp900 a year all risks any driver fully comp and i can drive any car fully comp.
A few years back there was flooding nearby - they called me at 8pm to see if i needed to make a claim as they had an assessor in area following day due to others making claim....i was fortunate i didn't need it.
I had someone drive into back of me on the motorway last year - I called them immediately and the car was collected the following day - taken to works and no excess to pay as i didn't need a loan car.
My experience with morethan on the other hand - led me to avoid them and put everything thru chubb and rename them lessthan.
