Sitting here contemplating an 05:30 start tomorrow to catch the ferry across to get down to Le Mans and for some reason recall the inevitable blaring of car alarms as the ferry leaves Portsmouth, and I realise I don’t know how to set the Vantage MY 2017 alarm/locking so my alarm won’t be one of them, and I’ve left the owners manual at home.

Anyone able to help, alternatively I guess just leave it unlocked?

On my 2010 Vantage it is in the menus on the radio / climate panel

Menu
Car Settings
Reduced Guard
Ask On Exit

When on ask on exit automatically sets reduced guard on.

Oh how I hate instruction manuals.

I cannot find a description of locking without any alarm.

There is however 'Reduced Guard, which turns off deadlocking, interior movement (option) and tilt sensors (option). This it explains is to allow a passenger to open doors from the inside and leave an animal in the locked car.

I have never noticed the button to do this, but it is shown to be on the right hand end of the dashboard, which can be seen when the drivers door is open.

Presumably it is the tilt sensor which creates the trouble on ferries.

Enjoy your trip. I will be watching some of the 24 hour TV coverage. Good for the onboard night viewing.
