V8 Vantage rear lamp replacement
Discussion
My passenger side brake lamp has given up the ghost, and I am told I need to replace the whole unit. The cost of this made me sit down suddenly. Before I replace, could I just check:
a) that there is no-one who repairs them, and
b) that they are the same unit as found on the DB9, rather than unique to the V8V?
My car has now had new brakes all round, new springs, and will soon have new lights. It's just had the major service. Clutch has checked out fine. I'm having a baby in August and will no longer use it - I think it's time to sell as it will be one of the most sorted 40,000 mile 4.3s on the market, I think - no major work required now for many miles!

A regular poster on here recently had one go and swapped them both out for clear lenses. If you are lucky, the good one left over might match your knackered one?
Just cannot remember who the poster was and my history search has proved hopeless (I am sure I posted saying don't go down the clear route!).

And assuming he means driver's side when saying right side, you could be in luck.

If you search the forum there is a great guide to splitting your rear light cluster using your oven and a bit of bravery.
I did this and then took the innards to a TV repair shop and had them test it and replace the broken bits. In my case it was the drivers as opposed to the LEDs but the shop said they could do them if they had gone. All the electronics are off the shelf for a TV repair man! Cost was £125.
At the same time I created a goretex breather hole using a goretex repair patch

Unfortunately, I don't have the working light anymore. I bought the clear ones from a guy that sells Aston Parts (Paul Cheeseman) and part ex'd my working light. He can probably do you a much better deal on that working light than Aston would for a new one though. If you PM me, I'll send you his email address.
