Some Aston Martins at Goodwood.

Is it unusual, that people drool over a previous model, so soon after the introduction of its successor?
Must admit that the new one is making me think of the "old" Vantage more and more as I consider the DB7... last generation.
The newer Vantage isn't necessarily more beautiful of timeless, but it's definitely more modern (with all the plus and minus thoughts that brings)...
Personal thoughts after seeing all the Astons at Goodwood.
Vantage is better looking in real life (ashamed to say it is first time I have looked at it in flesh).Interesting that at least one had front grille in silver which to my eye gave it a more "classic" look.
DBS Superleggera is an appropriate range topper for DB11 line but 812 rival it is not.Saw both go up hill in space of a few minutes.812 was visibly faster and just no comparison in sound and drama.
Rapide was only "last generation" car and IMHO really highlighted how good a job the AM designers have done in modernising the range.
I like the new Aston design language and genuinely believe generations to come will start to see these cars as beautiful.

Did you hear what the commentator said, when the lime green Vantage drove up the course ?
A bit out of order I thought.
"The back three-quarters of the car looks great."

A small volume manufacturer like Aston cannot afford to wait for generations to come to decide their cars are beautiful; it'll be a little too late. If I were a betting man, I would bet that Aston will come no where close to its target volumes. For that, they need a beautiful car deemed so by the current generation.I like the new Aston design language and genuinely believe generations to come will start to see these cars as beautiful.
