To old !
Nonsense.
Tell your Lady, politely to do one.
You're a long time dead.
If you keep yourself in shape, comme moi, and look the part, comme moi, you're never too old.
Even if UK weather is a bit cr* p, It's volante every time for me, nothing better than having the roof down, raybans, cool toons, exhaust note, fighting of the wimmin.
Of course, if you're a fat barsteward with a comb over wearing Farah slacks and a check half sleeve shirt then you'd be better in a coupe with tinted windows.
Then again if you're that person have you considered getting a Porsche.
PMSL.....Nonsense.

Was approached by three young ladies in their early twenties and complimented me on the car parked up in a supermarket carpark with the roof down. When I returned to the car they were admiring it and one said 'nice car'. Another saw my 'T' shirt and said 'cool 'T' shirt as well'. The moment was spoilt by my wife who told them 'he's still a dhead at times though'. I've got to admit the 'T' short (a present off my son) is cool though but does reflect my age!

My first Aston was an 07 Manual Coupe. In terms of purity of design I think they nailed it first time. It really is a beautiful car.
Having said that I traded it for a 2013 Roadster because the Aston is a weekend toy and i missed not having a soft top. I don’t think the 2013 Roadster is as good looking as the 07 Coupe though it isn’t half bad with the roof down.
Ultimately I went with function over form this time around and don’t regret it at all.
Very similar for me - I had a 2006 4.3 coupe, then a 2009 4.7 coupe. I now have a 2010 4.7 Roadster and whilst I don't think it's quite as good looking, the overall ownership experience is much more enjoyable.Having said that I traded it for a 2013 Roadster because the Aston is a weekend toy and i missed not having a soft top. I've never really been into roadster versions of coupes for some reason, for example I always loved the 3.8 E Type Coupe (before it went 2+2 and grew a hump) and much preferred it to the roadster. Same with the Vantage, although the convertible is a fine looking car
As someone who loves soft top sports cars I had to compromise

The only downside for me is that the 4.7 just doesn’t sound as good as the 4.3 (with fuse pulled) even with the roof down. Again it’s all relative as with the roof down it still sounds great. Bobajobbob said:

I went from a series of DB9 coupes and a DBS coupe into a Vanquish Volante. I really liked it. For various reasons, I felt I had to change to a Vanquish S. The only one I could find in a spec that I liked was a Vanquish S Ultimate Coupe.
It was a difficult decision. As the OP said, it is a car that only really gets used in good weather. It's great to put the top down. It's difficult to beat.
However, there are a few drawbacks. It's great when pootling. However, when the speed gets to 70mph, whilst the cabin is relatively free from buffeting, it is noisy with the top down. Traffic is smelly. I found it more comfortable to wear a cap than have the wind buffet the top of my head for more than a few minutes. You have to be a but self-assured to motor around town with the top down. You also need to tan easily.
My wife was the most difficult to persuade (on safety grounds) but was the most sorry to see it go)

Sorry guys.Been away most of week working and only just seen this. It is indeed Mr Art!
Luckily my 28 yr old son has been brought up proper and is a Floyd and Starwars nut. He got me tickets to see the Australian Pink Floyd in Liverpool a few years ago. Top lad!
FWIW, Before purchasing my 2009 Vantage Roadster, I only looked at Vantage coupes because they were just fabulous looking cars and and I rationalized that I already had 2 convertibles, a 1987 Porsche 911 and a 1970 E-Type Jaguar. However, after driving just one Vantage roadster (6 MT) and accounting for the fact that I would only drive this car on sunny summertime days, I quickly opted for the roadster and have enjoyed every minute behind the wheel. I have owned top-down sports cars since I was 18 and at age 75, I am too old to change. Life is short. Buy whatever makes you feel great.
2009 DB9 Volante and have never regretted it. And to a previous comment, have tracked it twice. Both times with the top down.
My first convertible and I always used to see people driving with their tops up and wonder - why?
I have come to realize my comfort zone is from 58 to 83 degrees.

I've just been through the same decision making process coupe or convertible. I looked at both and went for a coupe.
The coupe looks so much better than a roadster whether the roadster is top up or down in my opinion. I fancied a roadster though because I was after a weekend and high day motor not a daily drive so why sit in a 'tin-top' on a hot day surely 'top less would be the way to go. I then rationalised that in this country its only really warm between June and mid August at best no more than 10 weekends, I wouldn't use the car every weekend so maybe no more than 8 weekends maybe. In all reality was having a topless car for maybe 16 days a year even a decision given the coupe looks soooo much better.
In practical terms you get a boot on the coupe, the roof takes up a huge amount of the boot on a roadster so how would I get all my gear to Le Mans in a roadster. I also suba dive and no point having a nice car left in the garage on weekends when I'm off to the coast because I cant get all the gear into the car, so again the coupes boot space scored the points. (might be too practical a reason for many owners)
I then looked at a roadster and it was just horrible, smelt damp , very heavy wear on the interior, it almost put me off an older Aston altogether. I then looked at coupes and parted with the cash and a big smile on my face.
Do I now wish I had a roadster? no , will I perhaps one day ? maybe. Do I love the coupe? you bet I do.
