Thanks for the compliment, amigo. I’ve been a bit off message lately since we rocketed back from Italy. And now, what with Hubby and his mates off to Scotland on a tour of the distilleries tomorrow, I’ve had to oversee the beadblasting off his grubby boxers, pack some sweetie bags for them, make sure they’ve got enough clean socks between them etc etc etc.

I’ll try and get more messages and pics off. In the meantime here is one of the Disco they’ll be using. It should be back later today from the detailing shop where it has been suitably adorned with an appropriate livery. It’s got neatly 200,000 miles on the clock and is generally used to pull horse boxes, or Isambard our stud bull, out off bramble patches, mud wallows and female cows.

Crikey Roseanne,
I do love your commentaries so.
Compulsive “start the day” reading for me now.
As soon as Thought For The Day finishes, I grab my iPad to get my Daily Roseanne Fix.

Pls tell me Hubby & you are AMOC Members and are coming Nawff to Concours next weekend ?

My, how we’d love to share a table with you at the International Dinner! (Tucking into the Sir Loin)
Hi El Toro,

I’ve thanked you for your kind words in another message. Thanks again.

No, we are not presently AMOC members. We dropped out when we bought our Bentley Continental GTC two or three years ago. But now we’ve inherited Mama’s Lagonda we may well join again. And Hubby is thinking of starting a branch of the Audi Owners now we’ve bought our Audi S4 V8 Quattro Avant.
A few years ago we found we were members of nine clubs. It was a bit demanding to keep up, so we thinned ‘em out a bit. We’ve been members of the VSCC for a long time, and Hubby has ALWAYS been a member of the Austin Healey Owners Club since many years ago he drove his Mark 1 3000 BN7 from Cape Town to Warwick. England.

In the meantime, here is a pic of what’s left of that wretched Fiat 500 I cornered and thrashed to pieces with Hubbie’s sjambok on Wednesday.

Ciao.

Actually, amigo, the very best sjamboks are those made by the kwaZulu leather men. They are made using the tail of of a stingray.

There are many fellow Pistonheads who understandably doubt aspects of the threads I submit. I have posted pics of our DB9 both in the UK and Italy, I have posted pics of events in our recent trip to Tuscany, and even of Hubbie's mega expensive watch, yet clearly doubts remain in the minds of some fellow members. I have no problem with that.
However, to help allay the doubts of some as to Hubbie's existence etc. maybe this will help -

I posted a picture recently of the Disco hubby was to use on a trip to the whisky distilleries of Scotland with three chums. Whilst they lost two of their group to the charms of two Australian girls they met in a pub near Penrith ( the girls said they were " masseuses", so who could resist that ! But the pub landlord said they were mobile tractor mechanics ! ), Hubby and one other mate continued to Scotland. But, the nub of the story is, that drinking in the bar of the Ferry Boat Inn, Ullapool, they met another PistonHeader who immediately identified Hubby of Piston Head fame ( or notoriety ) whilst they were discussing Astons. Moreover, he took pictures of the self same Disco outside the pub.

So, fellow Pistonhead, should you so desire, please feel free to comment and post a picture of the Disco if you wish, but nevertheless confidentiality re personal details would be appreciated.

Ciao.

Yes, I agree. But Clarkson lost it on the Stelio, didn’t he ? Not only that, and please correct me if I’m wrong, but doesn’t driving the Stelvio commit one to going via Switzerland ?
If so, we didn’t want to have to pay for a years motorway tolls just for the privilege. Not only that, but if one is nicked for serious speeding, the buggers confiscate ones car.

We might do it next year in my Alfa Guilia Quatrofoglio.

I submitted my reply to a question posted in the Aston Martin section.

Be happy.

Thanks to everyone who posted on this thread. Fabulously eloquent, it has transformed a rather dull evening in a sub standard Copenhagen hotel with only an international women's football team for company, a dubious honour, into an unexpected pleasure. Looking forward to the Michael Bay film (and I've not heard many people say that before) to clock the DB9. Keep up the good work.

Don’t get Rosanne started on films .....

“She” has a myriad of tales to tell about her Hollywood connections.

And her old buddy from around these parts ......

My Hollywood connections are as nothing compared to Hubbie's. Whilst born in England, he spent many years in both Rhodesia ( as was ) and South Africa. However, his formative years were spent in the U.S., where he was practically raised on John Master's ranch in New Mexico. Indeed, it was there that he met many Hollywood luminaries. In fact he was taught to ride, shoot and sing by such megastars as Frank Sinatra, John Wayne and Jane Fonda.
Unfortunately it was John Wayne that taught him how to sing, Frank Sinatra that taught him riding, and Jane Fonda that taught him how to shoot !

Indeed.

I remember those wonderfully colourful tales well from other fora.

Why don’t you tell the good people of PH about the covert work he did in Vietnam ? He commanded a Chieftain too if I remember correctly ?

Congrats on the move to the big farm out in Herefordshire. That’s a new one. The independent Alfa specialists of Beds and Herts will miss you.

Stelvio is close to but not in Switzerland, it's possible to approach from Austria or within Italy.

A Swiss Vignette is only required for their motorways.

It’s great.

Italian side, heading up from Bormio, is much more fun to drive than the Austrian one which is what appears in all the pics you see. Both sides absolutely worth doing though with a definite stop at the top.

Forget the Quadrofoligio and get the StelvioQV !

As for the Stelvio pass, its tight and the passes over in Switzerland are much better imo.
