The lights don't seem very Aston Martin, glad to see it's grown 5 doors after the concept. Hopefully it launches with a v8 and v12 option.
Well they're the exact same lights from the new Vantage, so they're very Aston Martin But they're not going to be on the finished car, this is a very early engineering prototype. And I believe it's launching with V8, then V12 and Hybrid to come.

Sorry, I'd meant the rear lightsBut they're not going to be on the finished car, this is a very early engineering prototype. And I believe it's launching with V8, then V12 and Hybrid to come.

This is what annoys me:
'DBX is scheduled to be unveiled in the last quarter of 2019'
So it won't be unveiled for another year. Hopefully this means that Aston have learned from the mistake of revealing the Vantage so early and then leaving it too long before customers could even get in or see a car.

I'd expect the official unveiling of the DBX to be not long before you can physically order and receive the car - that's where the Vantage struggled. You could put a deposit down at the confidential back in October 2017, but you might not have a physical car until say June this year. 'DBX is scheduled to be unveiled in the last quarter of 2019'

The gestation period on the DBSS was much more what you'd expect - from confidential viewings to public unveiling was a matter of a month or so and you could order a car immediately, for delivery in [based on current expectations as of typing this] the next few weeks for the first customer cars. It's a shorter time frame and with each new car Aston are upping their game.
I can understand why the revenue is needed into the Aston Martin purse, but that doesn't mean I have to like the idea of Aston Martin selling out and entering the SUV market.
I don't like the Stelvio, the Anus, or this Aston for the same reason. They're just massively over-engineered solutions to a problem entirely of their own making IMHO

I’m very happy with my Disco, so not a buyer of a £170k SUV
But if it helps fund the development of future mid-engines cars then that’s great news. So good luck to them on that
PS why do people keep saying “X looks like Y”? I mean cars have a lot of common characteristics; a windscreen, 4 wheels, front grilles. So inevitably one looks a little bit like another...but surely petrolheads can see beyond that?

Lol, not trying to pick a fight but.... It looks to me like a dogs dinner, much like the levante, the bentayga, the anus......etc... depreciation will be epic making those pcp deals unaffordable for the plastic money target market. I think it is perfectly reasonable to make x y comparisons. I dont recall anyone saying the old vantage looked like a porka or anything else. Aston have, imo, lost their mojo and lost the plot with these new models. And I am not even old enough to be a true aston believer!

IT’S A SODDING DISGUISED PROTOTYPE!!!! Amazing how you can judge it based on images where pretty much every panel is covered, it has different lights front and rear and the front bumper is made from papier-mâché just to confuse people. How about people wait until they see the actual DBX before commenting on the looks...
I think this is a superb move (if a little late to the party - and it absolutely HAS to have hybrid abilities or its dead).
You all know how the Cayenne and Macan saved Porsche really and made them quite rich? They make a fortune out of the overpriced Macan - £30k+ made on a typically £86k car Levels of solvency and R&D funding Aston could only dream of...
No vitriol should be directed at family cars for dogs, filming kit, lugging fridge freezers and generally coping with all these potholes and fierce speedbumps. These SUV's are FAMILY cars - just a bit taller and some may well be a bit more handy than a BMW/Aston in the snow - just Mine is FAR far better and sportier and composed than the 'sporty' M535d it trounced...
Ohh and if you get a really good one (not a Volvo queasy behemoth - one that doesn't roll much at all and has 440bhp, PASM and PS4-S) its quite a delight on a Welsh B Road...
This is a very good late move for Aston (dependent on tech spec/price/hybrid ability). Being a 2 seater only car company is quite a restricted unsociable narrow niche you know...

It's pointless trying to defend it. Go have a look at the other thread, it's the reason I started this one hoping for better from AML enthusiasts.
The camo car is not a bad representation but the finished article IMHO is fantastic.
As far as depreciation is concerned the majority of people who spend £150k plus on an SUV really couldn't give a st.
Nick
What I don’t understand is why the AML marketing department feels the need to release pictures on their website and all over social media, if said pictures bear no resemblance to the finished article. Once again, it would appear that perhaps some people have had a sneak preview? I really don’t care too much, as this car will not interest me, but I don’t understand the rationale behind these pictures. The camouflaged New Vantage pictures in similar livery turned out to be very accurate so why should we believe this time it’s any different? I don’t want to stir up any trouble here. I’m not going to buy one but I am aware that AML need it to work and I wish them every success with it.
