Q. Now pay attention Bond!
We cannot afford any more wrecked Aston Martins and we have developed this model especially for you

Bond. I see it already has double O Sheven on the back

Q. Yes, you can tell by the plate that it has the VE Vantage Engine, that it has 06 cylinders, and that it is an Aston Martin Volante. AMV

Bond, But it not a convertible

Q. It has electric doors which have the dual function of putting the wind in your hair like a Volante and also possibly ejecting an unwanted passenger sideways

Bond. Is that all?

Q. No it has a pair of paddles on the column in case you want to cross a river

As mine is a DB MkIII it seems the Wolverhampton Aston Martin dealer put a bit of thought into which of his assignment of numbers to issue it with. Considering this was 1958 it must have been an early example of an car related plate.

HWM were selling some of the first Virages in 1990 with consecutive number plates to match the chassis number

So the chassis numbers were something like 500010, 500011 etc., and the number plates were all G510 VUU, G511 VUU etc.

AM 270

Early 1920s - Aston-Martin (probably Bunny at Broklands)

2018 - Audi
(I wonder if AML have ever wanted to have this registration mark for their collection)

V12[initials] was already taken for me. First saw it on a DBS, then it was moved onto a GTC (I think). Now possibly on a Roller.

I went for V60[initials]. 60 - 6 litre engine? Sort of but not really. It just seemed to be the most aesthetically pleasing of the £400 plates available at the DVLA which used my initials.

I have "RED PNTS" on my grey V8V for my website, "DAT AST" on my red V8V, and "UNZPD" (unzipped) on my 4Runner for my other website.

my initials are DBS

but I haven't bought a DBS number plate, following on from the first Casino Royale DBS which has chassis number 007
and was driven by Barbara Broccoli and had the number plate JB 07 GTB

I have a quantum Silver DBS and have number plate DB 07 GTB ..............but have not decided whether to put this on the car or keep the original plate

Got to throw my hat in the ring on this .

Not keen on seeing AM cars with OO 07 *** number plates , some of the V12 *** leave a lot to be desired as well , same goes for McLaren cars with MCL plates , just think they cheapen the car .

A traditional “ private plate “ is fine though.
My daughter advised me not to buy A007 DBN for my DB9 saying it would remove the coolness of the car. On reflection, I think she was right.

Sorry for being cringewary but when I purchased my V12S Roadster it had an 007 number on it. Now I have on retention JU52 RED which with very little screwing of your eyes can be viewed as JUST RED, which I liked on my F430 Spider. However I am not convinced to put it on the V12S which is also in red. So to remove some of the cringe I have to shell out on another number. Think I would rather keep the funds for something else.

You could always sell the 007 plate and take an age related plate instead and keep the Red plate on retention? I agree about the 007 plates...

I'm in Spain, and recently purchased an 06 DB9 Volante.

Now you can't have personalised plates over here, nor are there age related plates. You get what you're given by tráfico when the car is first registered or first imported and matriculated.

So the reg on mine is (a) not my selection and (b) pure coincidence.
(Unless someone in tráfico thought it was appropriate when the paperwork landed on his desk) .

Damn! This thread must have stuck in my head.

I never bought a private plate before - I have to confess thinking there was often a fine line between "slightly amusing" and pretentious.

However... my 2016 V8S was supplied to the first owner with a private plate which meant nothing to me and gave the impression of being the wrong year by (10 years out) which bugged me.

A quick look online and I saw VS16 AML was a bargain. So I bagged it.

That now makes me slightly pretentious too biggrin

Should be on the car in a few weeks!

I`ve have never been a fan of personalised plates, mostly because it`s a lot to pay for a piece of pressed tin that is already on a car anyway.
I get the 007 cringe-worthy aspect, and I would not have put a personalised 007 plate on my car, however in Switzerland you get assigned a number plate which is yours and goes from your current car to the next and so on. I received LU 215 007 which was first on and Alfa Romeo, then and Audi, and now my Vantage. The fact that it is random , I don`t mind it.

Seriously sounds like a case of buying the car to fit the plate biggrin
