Aston V12 Values
Discussion
I was talking to a friend about the V12 Vantages and Aston Martin's depreciation curve as he's considering a purchase, we were looking at some cars on here and am I mistaken in thinking that there seems to be a general rise in the prices of the V12's across the range? I don't look very often but I'm sure prices were lower a few months ago, is it just summer pricing or has Aston's ... reputation, been improved by all the new cars and attention?
I am also considering buying a V12 Vantage and have been very closely watching prices for the last 3 to 4 months and prices are still slightly dropping, especially on Main Dealer held cars, ones that dont move straight away will hold for about 4 weeks then drop, not by a huge amout but still dropping. Nothing is going up yet. Maybe due to prices set too high in the first place or maybe its the wrong time of year to buy, who knows.
I think they have dropped quite a lot in the last 4 months tbh. The only cars selling quickly are the stand out cars with lightweight seats. Others seem to hang around ages maybe as there is a big choice of similar cars for sale mostly black too. Can't see them going up in value now only way is down
I've been watching the prices for the past six months (before recently buying) and have to agree with the above. I think over that period prices have softened a little and even seemingly good cars at main dealers are hanging around for a while, slowly being reduced until they find their level. Also looking at the classifieds now there are quite a few cars still hanging around that have been for sale for months.
Having said that, good cars do seem to sell quite quickly. Right spec and price and they are sold. As for future values, who knows where they will end up.

I have not studied (recent months pricing) in detail, but can remember a few years ago V12V prices were very stable for a long time at around £85,000.
One Christmas, it was commented on here that there were hardly any listed on the Pre-owned list, and prices moved up. Within a few weeks, only one car was listed and the price was over £100,000.
I gather now they are just above £60,000.
To answer the topic question, no, and what a great car for £60,000 ish.

You might like to know that many out there do not want the LWS and prefer the sports heaed seats. There are not many stand out cars available right now and LWS does not make a standout car!

There are far too many variables within the market to make a generalisation about the V12 as a model.
When I was looking I had a very specific set of requirements :- roadster, colour, low mileage, one owner, impeccable service history, heated seats (for Lady S) etc, etc.
I finally found just the right example and whilst the price may have been slightly above the "norm" it was the car I wanted.
Good "different spec" cars will always sell - those more mundane "dealer spec" cars with iffy history will hang around longer - it was ever thus

I didn't mean people don't want the comfort seats I was just stating that when a car comes for sale with lightweights they sell quickly as not many around (stand out amongst all the dealer sport seated cars) There are not many stand out cars available right now and LWS does not make a standout car!
Mine is for sale (fire red) as I do not use it enough and am having one of my moments of guilt. They are worth what someone is willing to pay and I do know what it’s worth to me - so won’t be dropping the price just to sell it. They are terrific cars and the owners know that - I suspect the prices will hold longer term. I think we’re in a wobbly market right now and also the cars are hitting 20k plus miles which (WRONGLY) make some hesitate. These cars are all about driving and not about polishing!!

Really could not agree more. The mileage sensitivity is killing the market and making a lot of owners think twice about getting it out of the garage. Can you imagine not buying a used daily driver on the basis that it had 25k miles? I've no idea on values but suspect everything is a little flat at the moment - the big question is, will it recover or are we seeing a gentle readjustment of the market overall? Certainly looking at other high end cars, they are all slipping, which is great if you have the cash to spend to buy one, but not if you're relying on a sale.Ive only been watching a few months but i get the impression that its main dealers who are making them mileage sensitive, especialy as they hit 20k miles, they seem to drop like a brick. Its worries me when i see that, as im thinking whats is it that needs doing once they hit that "magic" number of 20k. Is it brakes, is it clutch, im thinking its a big ticket fix required soon.
Im assuming that all the time there are low milers sat around then the prices will stay high until they hit 20k, then once they all start to get closer to 20k, then maybe that figure will start to float upwards as the new "marker" to say 30k miles to trigger the price drop.

I don't think 20k is the magic number, it seems to be around 35k that buyers start to worry about clutches and brake discsIm assuming that all the time there are low milers sat around then the prices will stay high until they hit 20k, then once they all start to get closer to 20k, then maybe that figure will start to float upwards as the new "marker" to say 30k miles to trigger the price drop.
Doesn't seem to be many V12VSs under 80k mark right now but overall asking prices are trending down in last few months. Had mine over a yr now and hasn't missed a trick covering 4k miles with 23k on the clock...people need to get a grip if they think over 20k miles is alot for cars like these, they need to be driven regularly keeps all the parts in nice working order.
