I hear it will have outstanding off road capabilities but due to the rear exhaust design an electrically deploying tow bar is not possible which is madness when all the competition offer this feature

Previous generation Mercedes Infotainment with no CarPlay but I'll be surprised if this is correct

Price £150K - 200K

Anybody know anything more?

Agree completely and a big mistake if true. It’s an absolute necessity to have this as an option on a 4x4, whether just for bike racks or proper towing!

I agree, I did think the electric deployable tower was a bit of a gimmick on the Range Rover Sport but after a couple of years use I would now say at the customer profile AML must be aiming for it is essential - along with a lot more. I do hope the DBX is a success but for me I would never dream of spending £180K on a work horse and I suspect the depreciation will be eye-watering.

The Aston chassis is a bonded together affair and I can only imagine it’s not rated very well for towing. The price also suggests the new possible owners wouldn’t be interested in towing or hooking anything on the rear.

But you are not Charlotte. Charlotte doesn't have a workhorse. This is not for you...

I bet Charlotte wants CarPlay though!

Naturally, the Range Rover has CarPlay too, although it is hard to hear with all the neighing of the workhorse.

I have no interest in this car whatsoever (except that it may be AML's only way out of the st) but why would that surprise you at all when this is the offering on all the current cars, isn't it?

I doubt that will happen. If I were in the market for one of these then I would be considering the urus, bentaga or range rover. Why on earth would you go for this I still cant comprehend. I prefer the design of a 20k 4x4 than this and I would have so much change left over. This whole st Athens site is a complete flop in my opinion.

I know nothing of this market but if it fails surely it's all over. How much has St Athen cost to develop?

Do you think? Would it be a deal breaker?

These cars are not bought for the way they drive so maybe yes. It's image, image, image. Oh - I forgot status, whatever that is.

Yes! A high end car aimed at families without Apple CarPlay or even more importantly Android Auto will severely limit the market, especially outside of the UK / USA where Android is the pre dominant mobile.

Can't believe AM will be stupid enough to not have it.

I just wonder when everything goes flop will Daimler buy Aston Martin or will it dissolve like it has before. I feel bad for the people who have put there hard earned money into Aston shares. Depreciation is already a killer as it is.

Personally I just can’t buy into the DBX, at least not at the expected £180k spec’d price point. To me it would be my DD, I’d worry every time I left it somewhere, would want the little one or the dogs in it, let alone the tip runs, regular short journeys etc... so for me personally it just doesn’t work. Looks wise I will reserve judgment until I see a few in the flesh but having seen the red one at goodwood, I’m not expecting to be blown away sadly.

As for the CarPlay issue, having had it in my v12s, to go backwards in the current line up with no apparent firmware upgrade or alternative solution on the cards is a poor show....

AM with the foot shooting again. DBX needs carplay to appeal to the Chelsea Tractor drivers and a deployable hook for towing the horse box etc, while neither will be deal breakers for everyone I'd bet they'll lose a few sales from the lack of each.

Judging how popualr this is on more humble 4x4’s I don’t think it is a necessity...I’ve got a Cayenne. I reckon maybe 20% are specced with them.
