So what have you done with your Aston today? (Vol. 2)
Discussion
Just taken 3 months to put Bilsteins on my 06 Vantage (family distractions etc) What a difference, it is a transformation. Still stiffly sprung but not jiggly or crashy. It is lovely.
For those who want to know: had Mr Vantage for 10 years and also had a V12 for a couple of years when I did some work for AML. The V12 had such a better ride I fell out of love with the V8 but kept it anyhow as it owed me nothing. V12 rental finished 6 months before lockdown so didn't get around to selling the V8 and getting something new. Some N420 very low mileage Bisteins and springs came up so I bought them and now they're on i reckon it handles and rides better than the V12 ...maybe a little biased but it is very good

A massive mod for me this weekend.

Oh, yes. Green PAG-oil from the A/C compressor - two attempts so far to find the leak on mine and it is STILL dripping from the the condenser linkage.
Don’t buy a new compressor until you’ve googled how to rebuild air com compressor and watched a few videos. Effectively all that goes wrong is the rubber seals perish and need replacing. Rebuild isn’t difficult and you’ll save £400 or so compared to buying a new one.Veg said:
Yes air con leak and I totally agree it will be a seal in the compressor. Mine has gone too and when it no longer cools I will remove the compressor and fit a fivers worth of seals....in Gloucester there are people who will do it for you ....
Do pop up a thread as and when you do it. All invaluable info !I'm a new owner (Dec 2020) of an 06 Vantage and it had quite a lot of stone chips to the front bumper so i decided to get it resprayed. Nice and quick and not too expensive.
This quickly turned into pretty much a full respray as there were a few other niggly bits - chips on rear arches, a couple of scratches to the rear bumper, a stone chip on the roof, one in the middle of the bonnet, basically pretty much every panel had some defect albeit miniscule in some cases, after a few conversations with my wife starting with 'the body shop quote might be a bit higher as they are now doing the.... she said spray the whole car, i think really just to stop me going on about it.
The body shop also fitted new door struts and air filters whilst the bumper and wing liners were out. I also asked them to respray all the grilles, vents etc as they were looking a bit tired. I think this might be called project creep.
I picked the car up Friday and spent the entire weekend cleaning it inside and out and it looks amazing, the paint just sparkles in the sun now and it has a really deep gloss which is set off i think by the black vents on the bonnet - although this may not be to everyones taste i guess. Anyway just thought I'd share and if anyone is looking for a bodyshop in the south east just message me as Im really pleased with the results.
Ive only had the car a couple of months and havent driven it much other than a short drive to work now and again when its a nice day but the car is fantastic.

Beautiful, it is satisfying to see those early cars taken back at brand-new conditions!TheRainMaker said:
