Took it to have PPF fitted after having all the stone chips on the bumper, bonnet, rear arches, side sills and door handle corrosion done a couple of weeks ago.

Paint was immaculate when I set off. 25 mins later, on arrival at the PPF place I had a nice big chip on the N/S/R arch......mad

Isn't that just the way? Picked up my Tesla 18 months ago, drove it 40 miles from Service Centre / Tesla Shed to the detailer for full PPF. 3 stone chips on bonnet.

Mind you a clump of soil fell off a lorry and hit the front of my Vantage last summer, ripped up the PPF but no damage to paint, so it is worth it!

The stone chips are thrown up by the car in front, and you reach them before they've had time to drop back to earth.

A different way to avoid damage is to leave a bigger gap between you and the car in front. I've had my Vantage 10 years, and the only chip on the front was put there by the guy that drove it in for its service.

But if you have full PPF then you can drive really close and let the bits of granite bounce off you

A drive out with a mate - Alston, Hartside

Then onto a nearby pub...

I was chasing this most of the day!

Then late afternoon back to my old sports car routes - a trip out with the TVRCC NE guys, great bunch! Trip out to eshott airfield

All round great day!

Nothing. Despite the lovely weather there are too many roadworks to make any drive enjoyable.

Is there still nothing up at Hartside after the cafe went up in smoke? Van or anything?

There’s no sign of the old cafe at all - you can park where it was! Such a shame.

There was a van there on Sunday but not sure how often it’s there or if there are any toilets?

It’s a good excuse to do the west side and go to the cafe in melmerby instead which is what we did

Not always, they can be from cars coming in the other direction or even you front tyres throwing up stones and them hitting the sills or rear arches.

My car has 21k miles on it and had loads of stone chips which is why I had it sorted. Rear arches were particularity bad.. I've never had a car without chips. Same with windscreen damage, had a few chips on car screen that were impossible to avoid. Well unless I never took it out of the garage!

Not looking too shabby for an old (14 yrs) cheap Aston.

Dr Colour chip will have a perfect match chip kit for you. I have used this type of kit numerous times and they work well.

Ohh yeah, I do like them. Our previous RRS had similar and it was one of the few things I thought was "cool" on the car... lol

Will speak to my OH, about some from our Rapide too.

So based on your table above regarding my V12VS MY17.... does that mean there are no cut outs in the doors for such lights? Cant say ive ever noticed them tbh... but tempted to go have a look now, and maybe buy 2 sets off you wink

EDIT - just realised that Vantage 2018 onwards, you mean the new Vantage dont you frown

Get some stone guards on (mud flaps) about £100 or so, but fit really snugly and protect the rear quarter much better.

There's an ice cream van sometimes. However, I do think they have planning permission for a new building; billed as a sort of Mecca for petrolheads, walkers and cyclists. I think it has some accommodation. The drawings I saw were of a slightly incongruous glass and steel affair, but we shall see.

It looks like the mods have trimmed the thread. Can someone tell me what was being discussed - it sounds interesting.
