So what have you done with your Aston today? (Vol. 2)
Discussion
Went for a drive for first time in ages, before holiday traffic builds up, enhanced by all the nice cars seen en route. Astons, Ferraris, lambos, mclarens, TVRs, old bMw, scimitar GTE, and rolls. Wondered If any of the 3 Astons I passed on my way back ( possibly heading out to Coombe Abbas) are on here - red v12, black v8, blue new v8 ? Also the lovely grey/yellow V12VS I passed heading out of Bournemouth.

Off to Brooklands, along with quite a few others.
For those of you who don't know the historic circuit, that structure at the end of the roadway in the picture that looks like a wall is actually a section of the old banking, around which in the 20's and 30's heroic types devoid of all fear and sense of mortal peril would thunder at speeds in excess of 100 mph, frequently becoming momentarily airborne because the track was so rough and uneven.

It's the annual trip from Suffolk to Scotland next week, so fitted these today (they have been sat in the study for 18 months!).

I think they suit the grey car nicely.
Now just need to decide if I will respray my Matt black AMR wheels in that light Gold Porsche colour....

We had the opportunity to do a driver training day at Queensland raceway a few days ago. The weather was very kind to us and there were about 15 astons, mainly new series v8 vantages, a new F1 a v12v and my Vanquish.. I managed about 20 laps equivalent of the short circuit and learned a lot about lines, braking, driver position and general motor craft. A big thanks to Sunshine Aston Martin and James Harris for a well organised day with professional race drivers as our tutors.
The Vanquish handled herself impeccably and was no slouch in the runnings. Here is a photo of the pitt area which has been newly completed and will propel Qld Raceway into one of the best facilities we have.

A few upgrades to my V8 Vantage AMR (MY18). Yesterday I got the battery replaced with a Deadweight industries lithium Touge Max, those hellishly loud squeaking original brake pads replaced with the Porterfield R4S and replaced the secondary cats with Quicksilver cat delete pipes.
New battery is about 24kg lighter than the fading boat anchor that was in it. It had got to the stage where I had to permanently leave it on the Ctek if I wanted the car to start first time every time.
The brake pads are such a wonderful improvement. Totally silent and they feel much nicer and bonus is that are much more kind to the shiny wheels (poor photos below don’t capture how shiny they are).
The secondary cat delete is an interesting one. I think I’m going to save a lot of petrol. Where I used to forever be in 3rd because of the sound that’s now probably too loud for casual driving so now I’m in 4th. Thankfully I’ve got the CCC switcher for the muffler and if I enable this and turn off sport mode it’s relatively peaceful. But when I’m in the mood. Blimey what a sound. It’s the sound of Zeus gargling marbles. I don’t think I’d recommend it for a daily driver but if it’s a special occasion car like mine then it’s pretty great.
Bonus here is the Aston is now the same weight and has the same power as my M2CS. The universe feels more balanced.
Today went for a nice long drive. Love this car.

New velocity twin plate clutch fitted today by DAE on my 06 Vantage. Dropped the car off at 8.30 and on my way back home by 3.00. Really excellent service from James and at a great price as well. Apparently my existing clutch was at the very end of its life, so got it done just at the right time.

Good stuff, very aimed and interesting upgrades. Secondary cats must be legal on every Vantage, my N420 with the factory sport muffler just sings with them.New battery is about 24kg lighter than the fading boat anchor that was in it. I was mildly interested in switching to a lithium battery too when time will come, especially because being smaller and lighter, it will be way easier to fit.
Only doubt it capacity. I often leave the car in the garage for 2-3 weeks and got no possibility for a CTEK, will the battery hold the charge?

They have a good FAQ here

One big benefit with the lithiums is that cranking power stays the same at all charge levels where the lead ones get really iffy as voltage drops. I did get the largest battery they have so I don’t think you’d have a problem with 2-3 weeks. The other benefit is that the batteries shut themselves down at very low charge versus lead which get damaged. They have a rapid charger if this happens which has a 30 minute time of wake up and crank.

Cheers, good info. Please report back on your experience in the coming months, it could be very interesting for the community. They have a good FAQ here

Washed it, using a pressure washer in a hose pipe ban. Thankful for purchasing the static water hose for the PW, alongside a number of 25 litre containers and water butt.
Bought some new paint cleansers and glazes to play with as well . Let's see how it compares with carlack and bilt hamber .
Also picked out my bilt hamber atom mac on the brake discs to reduce the infamous disc corrosion following washing the car . Worked very nicely, I know not a problem for the carbon boys.

Managed to tear off my passenger side wing mirror on my 1997 DB7 reversing the car out of my garage. Always been very tight. Just under an inch of room on either side of the wing mirrors as you drive between the doors.
Not sure if I need a new one or not. Broken off some of the plastic housing. Can't even drive the car as it is just hanging there.
Very annoying but only got myself to blame.
