Was this you @Simpo2?
It was! I should have kept the power down longer but the marshal hovering halfway down distracted me. Then a half hour comedy of errors getting back to my parking slot as three different lots of marshals kept overruling each other.Edited by Simpo Two on Tuesday 6th August 11:00
Drove back from darkest Kent back home to Norfolk. I won’t be complaining about the state of Norfolk roads again - the surface from Leeds Castile through to Tenterden makes The Somme look like a billiard table. Sat at 70mph on cruise where possible, admiring some of the worst driving I’ve come across in a long while. Must be the weather or something.
Drove from NW Leics to Clitheroe and back. Traffic wasn't great. A50, M6, A59 there - 120 miles and 3 hours to get there. Had half and hour there before setting off back. Decided to go south from Clitheroe over the tops, down the east side of Manchester and into Glossop. Then Snake Pass to Ladybower and through Hathersage out to Chesterfield and down the M1 back home.
Round trip of 243 miles (excluding the 30 min stop) took 7 hrs.....
Some st driving. Got pulled out in front of twice, which facilitated lots of brakes and judicious use of the horn.
Wasn't driving hard at all and lots of 50mph sections on the motorway. Only 21.5 mpg!
I pulled up at home to see this:

Drove down a motorway. Parked in a field. Drove back up a motorway.
Good variety of interesting cars to view, plus exhibitors to chat to. It wasn't as "boy racer" as I'd feared; I don't think I'd ever seen so many McLarens and Ferraris in one place, both as exhibitors and in the carpark.. Many, many food and drink outlets and it was interesting to see what they'd done with the old WWII aerodrome hangars and buildings.
I should have remembered that WWII airfields tend to be windy (especially as I live on the site of one - doh!) so it was cooler than the forecast indicated, with intermittent light drizzle. Glad I did it, but not sure if I'll go again next year.

Never seen one in the flesh that colour, but that hits the spot for me.
Thanks, and also sounds great with the titanium race exhaust!Gassing Station | Aston Martin | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
