I’ve been lusting after a V8V since they came out and tomorrow I get to pick up my new to me 2009 !

It involves a plane flight, 4.30am start and 350 mile, 7 hour drive back.

Weather looks absolutely bobbins - 45 mph winds and heavy rain. Not ideal, but I’m genned up on headlight and rear light dehumidifying for when I get back.

I’ve had various Maseratis, AMG Mercs etc. but this is one drive home I can’t wait for.

Pics etc to follow.

I do have a PH history since 2003, but after changing email addresses I lost all my history etc so starting afresh.

The car comes with 3 month warranty and is booked in to AML in Nov for a service and full check over.

Not sure I’ll sleep tonight....

Wish me luck !

Congratulations!

I picked my one up in the pouring rain as well, after rescheduling several times to try to get a dry day! It didn’t take away from the collection at all - just meant I was extra careful on the drive home. Enjoy getting used to it and enjoy the whole day.

Proper day out!
I picked a Tuscan up years ago and drove it back in the pouring rain. Steady on the throttle lol

Have fun

What a day you`ll have! smile The rain will not dampen the experience, you`ll be sitting in one of the best cockpits in the industry listening to the V8 burble, and know that the traction control is not too intrusive, but does step in preemptively! smile

Hi Jonny, welcome back.

Exciting times collecting your first AM. They're absolutely fine in the wet as long as the tires are healthy.

I have a MY2010 6MT Vantage and so I total approve of your choice. Post up some pics.

Oh boy, it does brings me back to 6 months ago, when I flew from Milan to Paris then train to Normandy to pick up my N420 and back!

Got the rain too of course.

Good luck mate.

Hope you have a fantastic collection day. We need more info on colour spec. etc. and the photos, of course. Don't worry about the rain. It'll just mean you can start to explore the car's limits at lower road speeds.

I was exactly the same and my first one was a 2009 too. You'll love it. First bit of advice - the OEM Bridgestones are brick hard and have pretty poor grip in all conditions. Replace them with Michelin PS4S as soon as you can.

I would think about your options on this one. You will get a much more thorough inspection from a good Indy than you will at a Main Dealer and the service will cost you a bit less too. Let us know where you are in the country and people will come up with recommendations. Just a thought.

Enjoy your day and welcome to the forum!

Enjoy the drive and as Pete says watch those OEM Bridgestones, not much fun when cold and little better when warm. I drove a V8V in 2008 and it was beyond my wildest dreams at the time - still brings a smile to my face to bumble down the road in mine.

If it’s been looked after, there isn’t much to go wrong. Good luck maxing the mpg wink

An exciting day for you Jonny.

I can still remember collecting my MY 2009 V8V Coupe manual, in 2011.

Further more, eight years later, I still marvel at the beautiful design every time that I see my car. I think they look perfect from every angle, and that must be a rare thing to say about cars. Smooth and sporty, but with nothing that does not serve a practical, functional purpose.

Enjoy your long drive. Pity about the rain. Just keep that traction button switched on, because it is so easy to spin the rear wheels.

Back home at last ! 360 miles through torrential rain, standing water on the motorway, 7hrs drive.

Pretty bushed but got to explore a few things.

Onyx black, grey interior, MANUAL !

It has exemplary service history. AML are an Indy in Macclesfield so looking forward to their report.

It’s on Pirelli SottoZero tyres which were perfect for the weather conditions.

More to follow...

Awaiting pics! Onyx black has incredible pop but you better get used to polishing! One only has to look away and it’s dirty again!

I did for a moment think it could be my recent departure!!

Enjoy it, in my mind nothing comes close.

Ermmm - traction control button... ?

Will say one thing - it’s very easy to go from 70-90 without really noticing. That throttle pedal is very sensitive.

Big congrats and great choice. I have an '09 Coupe, manual, Sports Pack, Onyx and Obsidian. Onyx is stunning. I've had it from new, and it's wonderful. After 10 years, I still stare at it, and every drive is still an event.

Quick pic after the rain stopped this morning

Needs a thoroughly good wash after the cross country jaunt yesterday.

I was going to upload another pic but it keeps saying “no image to upload”

Anyway, it has full Sports Pack, wheels are mint and with red callipers, so you can get an idea.

Usual light misting on the front headlights but rears are dry as a bone.

Found some options I didn’t know it had, lumbar adjustment, cruise control, USB and media interface and even garage door opener. Chuck in the DAB radio and upgraded sat nav and I’m not sure it could be any higher spec’d.

Which is nice
