Are you using it as a daily?

Do you find the seats comfortable? The older standard Vantage seats aren’t the best
I had one for a few months earlier this year which I used daily for about 4000 miles and in my opinion its worlds apart, mainly due to the usability of the gearbox. For me the seats are are much better as the seats on my 4.7 were the main reason I sold it.

Loved the noise from track mode but I found it lost traction very unpredictability.

Just waiting for the new Roadster.

I’ve had my new Vantage for just over a year now. It’s a hugely capable car and like other comments here, I find the seats exceptionally comfortable. I think this is part of the ‘problem’ with the new Vantage, when we as owners are highlighting one of the best things is how comfortable the seats are then that sort of tells me the car is lacking a little in that bit of magic that makes the car feel special. I was fortunate enough to keep my v12vantage alongside the v8 and whilst the new v8 is a ‘better’ car in every measurable department, to me it just lacks that bit of magic to make it feel truly special.

I think that most Aston buyers choose an Aston with their heart rather than head (otherwise they’d buy a Porsche or Ferrari) because there is something about the cars and the brand that makes you ‘feel’ special with an emotional attachment to the car. For me the older v12v has that special feel which I don’t quite have with the new Vantage.

I don’t want to sound negative about the new Vantage because it’s a great and highly capable car and a terrific all round sports/gt and it is quite nice that they are super rare on the roads. In my 15 months of ownership I have only ever seen one other out on the roads and it actually gets a lot more public and positive attention than the old model.

Every time I see zaffire blue I also think it suits the car so well and wonder if I should have gone with that colour

That’s good to read! I don’t tend to do too many miles in mine, hence it not being a big enough problem to sell for that reason, but it is an important part of the package.

I appreciate your real world experience of the new Vantage. It’s great you’ve been able to keep the V12V alongside.

Don’t take this the wrong way, but you are effectively comparing the introductory model with the high-end mid-lifecycle previous model. It will be interesting to see where the new model goes. Aston has a good track record of continuous development.

The problem with people comparing the new vantage with the old vantage is that they are really comparing previous generation "analogue" cars with a modern car. The new vantage should really be compared against its current contemporaries, and when you compare is again the likes of a mere AMG or a 911, it is definitely a more special machine. Yes, it can never be as old school as the previous generation vantage, just like a 992 porker cannot be as feel-some/special as a 993/997.

Vantage 'suffers' from the same issues plaguing the entire car industry. We customers are actually unsure of what we actually want, cars only sell when they are faster/more tech/stiffer/better brakes/quieter etc....

the issue comes about when all of those requirements are actually plugged into the design spec of the car, you end up with a slightly numb, safely setup missile of a thing (it doesn't do to kill your well heeled customers by releasing a 'spiky' car that is likely to put them through a hedge...)

i think that's why i'm looking longingly at a manual v12vs convertible - a proper analogue hotrod not really good enough for it's motor...

It's the same reason i got rid of my i8 - i was bored to tears with it, i was doing 100mph every day because it was just so quiet and easy - i was going to end up in jail...

There's a reason i often pick up the keys to the mx5 instead of whatever sports car i am running - it moves around at sensible speed, makes a nice noise (with the backbox i have on it), is convertible, is quick enough yet you still get to extend it in several gears before things get antisocial. The tech on it is exceptional as well, the adaptive lighting is mindblowingly powerful and clever.. it's just a riot to drive

Nottingham called me yesterday virtually begging me to listen to the deals on offer.

I suspect Notts won’t be calling me!

Here’s a photo of my new Vantage alongside its older brother V12S manual .
They are two different cars from two different eras. But both very capable of doing their job very well in my opinion. The new seats are good but not a good as the lightweights in the V12 S
I like the new tech but I can also appreciate the old analogue feel of the manual.
Can some one tell me how you change the tyre pressure reading from whatever it is at the moment 250 to old school PSI on the new Vantage please.

Chris , divide by 10 for bar ie 250 is 2.5 bar so whatever that translates to as psi - afaik you can’t change screen. From cold should be 260.

I’d be interested to hear a more detailed comparison between your cars Chris as I would be interested in a v12v manual.

In the Owners manual it shows it reading in bar so thought there must be a way to change it over.

You have to concentrate when changing gear in the manual especially setting off in first and moving to second. As a little notchy, and easy to jump a gear . But that adds to the driving experience and the feeling you are in total control of which gear you want at any given time. I’ve taken it through the Swiss and Austria alps twice now and loved using the manual box. Only just got the auto so not had a lot of time in it yet. But I want to use it on track and think this is where the car will come into its own. The full auto option works very well as well. I’m looking forward to getting to know the V8 better over the coming months. But I do like the new tech aspect of it. The manual is hopefully a keeper as I bought it new knowing it was the last of NA V12 with a manual from Aston.

The message from NCL was for about 5 or 6 cars that needed registration before the end of the month.

Including DBS and DB11

I just deleted it because it’s of no interest to me , saying that if it was me trying to sell them , everyone would get a phone call not a text.

Have you driven one? It really doesn’t need any more grunt.
Yeah, spent a few days in one and also tracked one, just think it could do with a little more power... also had opportunity to take the DBS around the track and scared myself a little with the driver aids off...

Top tip for people with new Vantage with a short plate. The standard UK plinth is full size and was too big for my small plate. Attaching directly to the grill mesh was unsatisfactory in appearance, so ordered a Swiss front plate plinth, and now number plate mounted properly. Part number for shorter plinth is KY63-17A835-CA

Hello Phil,

New car looking very good.

You have chosen to have a short front plate, but a normal size plate on the rear.

If you wish, you can have plates without a dealer name advert. I discovered this purely by chance. For my five digit plates I had them made by Halfords, who display their name as legally required, but using a very faint almost transparent font. Cannot be seen from a few feet away, or in photographs. It is only a tiny detail, but preferred by some people.

Regards,
David.

Looking forward to my manual arriving in a month or so. Had a manual v12 and S so gearbox will feel familiar to the latter. The S was also an animal especially with the performance upgrade. One things for sure, the sound won’t come close to the roar of that titanium exhaust.
