Anyone know what the Volvo part number is for the (smaller size) wing mirror internals? The motor inside my NS wing mirror is seized and just clicks when I try to adjust the mirror glass with the door switch. AM quoted me around £600 to fit a new motor, but they have no stock and no ETA for when one might be available. I recall that the wing mirrors were all sourced from standard Volvo units, so trying to find elsewhere at non-AM prices.
Just in case anyone is interested, I figured out how to pull my mirror assembly apart yesterday and extract the motor part. Having removed it, I can see that the part number is 1452577LH which fits a Ford C Max and some Volvo's of the same era. I assume that 1452577RH will be the same part but for the drivers side mirror assembly. Just to mention that this is for the non-folding door mirrors - the folding door mirrors may or may not use a different part.

I had previously bought a used mirror assembly of a Volvo S60, but the motor part was slightly different (Part Number 1452579LH), so that ended up being a waste of money. A correct, used motor part is now on order from eBay for grand total of £25, so hopefully that will resolve the problem once and for all and save me £575 over Aston Martin prices.

I have seen on a FB post that for the Vantage Roadster you can replace the fuel cap strut with one coming from Aliexpress.
Here is the link and, to make sure it does not get lost, the specs and a picture below. It was suggested to buy the 30N.

Thanks. Hope that fits

I have just serviced my V8 vantage, Oil filter, copper washers and new drain plug was just short of £20 from Aston Workshop about the same price from Aston Martin Leeds. I got air filter and pollen filter kit from simplycarparts off eBay for £29 which are Blue Print which I believe AM use. Castrol Edge 8 litres £89.

When the brake pads are due I will fit some EBC Yellow as I'm not impressed with the standard Brembo ones at all.

I have had my Vantage 7 years now. I had it first serviced at BR a year after I bought it, had the suspension bushes replaced, twin plate clutch conversion, new discs and pads. Since then I have serviced it myself using the AM check list. Easy.

No doubt at some point I'll come across something that only AM or a specialist can fix but until then I'll carry on.

I have no intention of selling it so I'm happy keeping my own service history.

well done Red 12 they are just mechanical after all. If I was living in a house rather than an apartment block I would do my own work.
I have done a few things where possible eg, pulled the dash leather bits off and stretched and re glued were there was some shrinkage., did the door struts, polished out swirls, chased down a new dash waterfall as mine had a crack in the piano black. Had the front bushes all done by my local indy at about 1/3 the cost. Replaced both engine mounts at about 1/3 the cost of am. I buy oil when on special and give to the mechanic to do the change.

I am lucky i have found a good indy who is creative and reliable.

Cheers Astontony, I dropped on a local garage upgrading their 2 post lifts. It's heavy duty and just fit in my garage. I gave £300 for it and had to get a single phase to 3 phase inverter. It's makes jobs 10 times easier.

I've just removed the most expensive bit of cheap plastic, the front splitter/chin. Does anyone know of any after market alternatives that doesn't look like it belongs on the back of a civic R?

Hi Red 12, i am not familiar with the part however if you check on line or on this site there is a polish carbon fibre manufacturer who makes aftermarket parts for astons eg slam panels and front splitters etc. He is an excellent tradesman. ECPS Group in Poland.

So Astontony, at first I thought you were taking the Mick as some people on here can be a little pretentious, turns out it's quite a good website! Loads of used Aston bits at reasonable prices.
They do have a splitter/chin but it's for the facelift model.
I'm going to email them to see what they can do.
GOOD FIND!

I own a 2007 Aston Martin Vantage, and I've been having an issue with the rearview mirror. It has become slightly tarnished over the years, and I'm hesitant to spend a fortune on a replacement part from the dealership. I was hoping to reach out to this forum to see if anyone has any knowledge of the part number or knows where I could find a suitable replacement at a more affordable price.

Additionally, I was wondering if anyone knows whether it's possible to upgrade to the auto-dimming version of the mirror. I currently don't have the auto-dimming feature, but I heard that the wiring loom is already in place, making it possible to replace the mirror with the auto-dimming version. Any guidance on this matter would be appreciated.

I tried searching and it seems that the it uses the same rear view mirror as the Volvo V60 or V70, but I can't find a solid answer. I've also looked on https://www.detailcorpsmedia.com/vantagealternativ... but there isn't any information on the rear view mirror either. I was hoping someone here would know.
