I'm sorry, I know some eyes will roll, but I've always wanted a DBS, not manual, I can't stand the hole manual thing, despite owning a Ferrari F355 GTB 6sp, yes yes I know.....biggrin

Anyway, are these cars going to continue on a downward spiral? is there a bottom in site? having recently lost nearly 1k per month for the last 2 years on a FFRR Vogue SE I'm in no mood to lose whats left of my shirt on a DBS if its the same story.

the DBS is the only one I'd have, I just love it, for me it would be used a couple of times a week, probably 2 or 3k per year.

With limited number and the exclusivity of AM, is it a good time to buy a bottom book DBS?

The DBS is regarded by AM owners as being quite a special model. Demand has always been good and many of us would like to own one. If that situation continues, you should be OK with depreciation. Of course keeping for a long time always helps the arithmetic.

Searching for an auto will certainly make things easier.
I see there are several under 20,000 miles on the Pre-owned list now. Not sure why the Bristol car is priced higher.

I have a DBS and a manual 355 spider. V12 and V8 perfect combo. DBS will not disappoint, still beautiful and sounds fantastic. I like the auto as it’s easy to drive and paddles are good too. I think the manual argument on the DBS is over rated and completely different proposition to a 355 manual v 355 F1.

Bottom line is, providing you don't overpay today then IMHO I don't think you'll loose your shirt on a DBS or a V12V. There's always going to be fluctuations and opposing market conditions, but I guess all but the most expensive ones out there have probably more or less done their money now. Are you hell bent on a DBS ? If not, then a Vanquish could be a good shout.

As for the manual vs auto argument......well........I love my manual V12S, but that's partly because of what it is (end of line, V12, NA, Roadster etc etc). As a DD then for me I'd have an auto all day long and keep the 3 pedals for Sunday blasts. It's no fun sitting on the M25 in a traffic jam in any manual car is it.

Just think, if these forums are still around in 20+ years and the youngsters of today start reading them, they're all going to wonder WTF we're all on about even discussing this. They will only know electric which is a dodgem.

A friend of mines son has just learnt to drive but in an auto. Both my friend and his son said what's the point, he's never going to buy a manual car so why bother with the hassle of a manual licence.

Winter is coming my friends...........buy whatever makes you happy, not what you think might make you money, life really is too short.

If there are ever five words to stand by these should the ones, alas, ‘yes darling, you are right’ seem to pip them to top spot.

Great reading guys, quite right, new drivers today just want to press a pedal and go, press the other one to stop, they really don't get why 'old' people like a manual biggrin
Regarding my DBS hankering against a Vanquish was purely down to lack of knowledge of the AM range and where that car sits, looks like one hell of a car to me yet slightly cheaper than a DBS and newer? Is the DBS more limited in numbers?

DBS and Vanquish were produced in similar numbers: 3500 vs 4000

Vanquish has more front seat leg room (a couple inches) over the DBS, and has a very elegant ski slope design. The stitching on the seats may or may not appeal to everyone, but it is an eye catcher, so the simpler design of the DBS may be preferable.

I find it very hard to pick one over the other; one day it is the DBS, the next it is the Vanquish.

Agree, the Vanq is no doubt the better car but I think the DBS is prettier. Miss world or Miss universe I guess.

I think you might find the BR video on this quite interesting:

Certainly solidified why I choose an auto!

Interesting! Has BR done a DB9 vs DBS video comparison? If so, I can't find it in their list.

The difference is that the 1st one is an eternal rule to live your life by

The 2nd one is what keeps your marriage in a better state and thus allows us to buy AM's yes
