.... That would be a big step forward imho to getting back to Aston Martin dna.
Brilliant smile There's probably a grammatical term for this little gem, but I'm sure as hell I don't know what it is.
Ha ha - good point - it reads differently now - it all made sense when i typed it!
Progressive regression?

Another article.

https://www.autocar.co.uk/car-news/new-cars/reinve...

“ Company chairman Lawrence Stroll previously said it will be more like an “all-new” car, bringing upgraded engines, gearboxes, suspension and, most importantly, an overhauled interior.”

The updated models, said Stroll, will be "what those cars should have always felt like". The DB11 is expected to arrive first, and is expected to make its official debut later this year.

So vantage and db’x’ will be front engined sports/gt, and valhalla/Vanquish will be the higher end mid / rear engined sports?

Company chairman Lawrence Stroll previously said,
"We do not need any more money at all. Let me be crystal-clear, black-and-white: we do not need money."

( Oh, perhaps just a little might help. How about £654 million? )

"There's no similarity at all to the current cars," Lawrence Stroll said, but added that there will be "some carry-over" at the rear end.

EDIT

Excited main dealers were assembled, eager for the unveiling of the replacement for this car.

Drum roll, as the cover was pulled back.

There was silence in the room.

"It is an all new car, now with a Rolls Royce engine."

Bring it on. Hope the DB12 just has the V12 engine and is a more stylish and exclusive version of the DB11. Built as a classy grand tourer rather than an aggressive track thing.

Keep the DB11 with the V8 engine and a minor facelift.

It feels that now isn’t the time to be buying a used AM! I enquired about a Vanquish this week and at the last minute after agreeing a price I was told I couldn’t view it because it had been sold. Gutted as looked a lovely car. Maybe, just maybe it was a blessing in disguise because who knows what will happen to residuals if they go from front to mid/rear engine!

Perhaps naively I would have said that indicates the market for older Astons is healthy because there were obviously several of you trying to buy the same car?

Or did I miss your point?

I think as Rich has suggested it might be the complete opposite though.
Some Vanq’s and the like are possibly over priced ( I’ve seen some price reductions of these of late ) but quality will always sell.
Completed production mid / rear engine cars are still some way of.
If you are buying as a keeper it’s not easy to see what else would tick the emotion ,experience and noise box.
I’ve run out of garage space but am still looking for the right Vanquish S even though it would have to live outside - once I’ve persuaded my wife this is fact a good idea.

would be a bit disappointing if the car is renamed db12 yet is just a mild refresh with new front grill....

Could be worse - could be 'LS12'!

I guess there wasn't a ton of changes between db4,5,6. But still a major shift from 7 to 9, and 9 to 11.

If the DB11 mid-life facelift is to be only AMG V8 engined, what will become of Astons own V12?

I would have previously expected that it would continue to feature in some hot halo revised DBS? - however, with the AMG engine already capable of getting on for 800hp, which is probably already at the realistic limits for RWD only propulsion, I can see why Astons heavier, thirstier V12 engine may be considered irrelevant, especially as it is effectively already excluded from key growth asian markets. What a shame.

If Astons very own engine is to be retired for their own road GT cars, it may well be worth hanging on to existing V12 engined DB11 and DBSS as the last of Aston’s non hyper-stuff with an Aston engine.

I agree. Maybe something along the lines of what Bentley did a few years back when they kept their old 6.75 V8 going as long as possible alongside a modern VW group engine. So DB11 =V8 with new infotainement and the DB12 is the V12 engine in a facelift car. That is what I would like to see. And keep the DB12 going as long as legally and financially possible even if it becomes more exclusive and more expensive.

DB12 name and not a V12 engine at some point?

Do any recent finance docs have Ford Cologne contracts mentioned?

Expect a last hurrah V12 special about 12 months after launch (possibly sooner). MB interiors must have moved on a bit too hopefully.

The boardroom.

Fellow directors, there is a problem.

Cannot have LS12, so I have decided the new model name will be; Aston Martin Strulovitch 1.
All vegetables agree? I take your silence as a yes then.

I would be very surprised if M-B allowed their latest dashboard tech to be used.
It is called 3rd Generation MBUX.
They seem very proud if it, because most unusually, they have publicly unveiled the interior, but not yet the car.

Optional cinema for passenger (who perhaps refuses to converse.)

The V12 is finished. The DBS 770 Ultimate is the last one.

V8 or smaller going forward, same as Bentley.
