A lot of dealers seem to tease new arrivals on social media before they advertise them. That's how I knew about this car.
Hmm, that's a lot of dealers to follow...
Sorry. I mean the independants, not MD's. You get a feel of who deals in Aston's after a while.

Thanks - seems I need to raise my game!

Although it would be sad to see my first Aston, a Pentland green DB9 coupe, go. Perhaps there's an owner of a suitable Vanquish who's fallen on hard times and wants to swap spin

Hi Pete
I've been running a 675 with out warranty for 5 years. No major costs. I exclusively use V Engineer, but they are VERY popular so wait times can be long. I wouldn't touch Thorney with barge pole. I've driven most the McLarens and whilst the 600LT is a great car the sport series does seem to suffer the most issues. Any thing on the P11 platform seems to be a lot more reliable. I'd highly recommend a 650S spider, we did 4 weeks round Norway in ours and covered 21k miles in 18 months. Great sports car, but superb tourer with the cross linked hydraulic suspension (which you don't get on the Sport series or GT) 720 replaced it but I'm not a fan of the looks or stupid folding dash, they also seem to have more issues than P11 cars.
On the Porsche, the 992 was my third Porsche and should have been a dream car. £182k 992.1 GTS C4 Cab with a crazy spec. It was not right from day one and the list only got worse as I used it. I won't bore you with the list but it resulted in 11 visits to the supplying dealer and spending more time with them than me. The dealer kept falling to fix issues and Porsche UK just fobbed me off.
Just to put another nail in the coffin, I took a £70k hit when I sold it. In the 675 owners group there are at least 4 other owners who have returned or sold 992s because of issues, including two GT3s. That's over 7% of an ideal Porsche demographic that had issues. All are multiple super car owners, many have earlier 911s.
IMHO most Porsche GT owners are locked into the deprecation Vs enjoyment dilemma.
Thanks Mikey, Nick and Darren for the excellent advice/information. Problem is V Engineering are a long way from me. Are there any decent McLaren Indys in the midlands/north?

I ship my 675 down to V every year. So does one of the others lads, from Aberdeen, along with his P1.
They are worth the effort.
Even with the transport it is still cheaper (and better) than a main dealer.

I know like the good old days. Your car must surely be a keeper after all of the recent work carried out.

When I paid the big bill, I said that it now owed me another 10 years Darren. I've had 2 of those 10 without any major issues and still love it.

I know I'm going to sound old but there aren't many new cars (that I can afford) that appeal to me much anyway, so I'm sure I'll have it for a good while longer. But there are so many more that I want to try/own before it's too late. Having never owned a V12 or V10 is a major issue for me that needs resolving. Anyway, I think I need to retire and move somewhere with at least a triple garage before adding any more cars. I haven't even got room for any more bikes to be kept where they should be.

I sold my V12 Vantage and instantly regretted it. My current Vanquish is wonderful and I can’t see myself parting with it but then you see other cars and fancy trying something different. I have a double garage but one half is full of kids electric bikes and mowers. I am trying to work out if you would want to daily drive a McLaren and an Aston through winter out in the countryside or do I keep my daily and end up with too many cars. I know it’s not a real world problem.

My answer to that is no.
I also live in the country side as well.
Last thing I want is salt and grim constantly pounding the aluminium on the Aston and McLaren.
The st weather car is an X5M Ultimate Pack.

As I suspected in the end in reality on a cold wet morning you need something a bit easier to get in and drive. I could leave one of the cars outside I suppose.

You beat me to it!!! I think the advert went live with no pictures on the Friday, I called up on the Saturday morning and it had sold to you!
Looks like there is plenty of interest in Ming Blue just with the pistonhead members, let alone the general public!
I was not aware that this colour was in such demand, the guy at McGurk explained to me that any non grey/non black 'S Volante' models indeed do not hang around due to the rarity.
Roy Humphrey prestige cars have the ming blue coupe, which I was going to look at, but the Ivory interior is a put off, and looks very different to the lighter truffle interior.
Possibly going to test drive a vanquish s coupe at the weekend to see if it tempts me into one. (boring black on black though)
An 'S' Ming Blue Volante with silver wheels is an absolute stunner, that Cigar guys car is my perfect spec.
Anyway, well done and it looks a great car, and you really was fast on the phone - I was shocked it had sold in under 24 hours!

The availability (or lack) of coloured ones is also compounded by the scarcity of the model. IIRC, there are only about 100 S Volante in the UK.

Is Ivory that different to Cream Truffle in the flesh?

A belated welcome back Mikey and to the Vanquish club also. Brilliant.

You will have AMi III which I have to say is one of the best infotainement systems I have ever used. When Aston went MB in the DB range it was a backward step I think. I paid a lot of money to upgrade my MY2015 Vanquish to AMi III, yours should have it as standard.

Picked her up today.
Weather was shocking do placid drive home on the motorway.
She's filthy now so the has suggested we call her "Minging"! I see what she did there!
I've a few questions for the "hive"
1) tyre pressure setting? Nothing in the manual, on the doors or B post!
2) where the manual is strapped in the picture looks to me like some else should also be there are the straps are too long.
3) the panel the manual is strapped to lifted easily and seems to have foam cut outs and supports to hold something else. Any ideas?
4) tow eye is rattling around the boot where does that normally store
Can't wait for a few dry days to get her out and top down
