Rich - appreciate your comments, though it is a choice between standard sound now or upgraded sound in 2 months time and I think that the former is more appealing to me. 2 months is a long time! I only tend to keep my cars for a year...

I appreciate that resale will be far easier with nav, though I am hoping that that sound upgrade is marginally less 'golden'... and praying?!

If it is due around that time in Dec, I guess it makes more sense to wait for the first week of Jan, '06 plate. Shirley better for resale.

Afternoon all. Was told yesterday that my Vantage is on post build test and should be at dealers by mid next week barring any faults found. Does this sound reasonable to expect??
Also i wondered about peoples thoughts of the 05 or 06 reg question. I see myself owning the car for about 1 year so should i get her registered now or Jan? If i wanted to make a quick buck i know the answer but its the value in Autumn next year that interests me.

Register it now and enjoy it if you can. I am doing just that.

BTW I was told that my car was 'built and ready' more than 3 weeks ago, only to be told earlier this week that it is going to START build on 1 Dec so don't hold your breath.

My dealer has offered me its showroom car as an apology - which is being gratefully received next week.

I had a sneaky looksee on the order page on the terminal whilst the dealer made a cuppa and it there in black and white (or black and iro ore) so fingers crossed. I take it you have the showroom car as a 'loaner' or was it a very similar spec to yours?

I am buying the showroom car instead of waiting for mine. Impatience is a virtue.

The Meteorite showroom car is the same spec as mine except:

- Iron ore black instead of the black that I ordered (I'm indifferent)
- It has a telephone module, heated screen, battery conditioner and powerfold mirrors (none of which I want but have to pay for, c'est la vie)
- It does not have the 700W Alpine system which I ordered, though this is available as a retro-fit from WS or dealers (at a higher cost than the £995 factory upgrade no doubt)

I made the decision that for the sake of a couple of extra months in my V8 I was prepared to make these sacrifices - and I sold my 997 a couple of weeks ago so the garage needs filling!

I personally love the meteorite/iron ore combo. Looks amazing in the db9 but that also has the exotic wood to break it up a little. My dealer said the standard audio is not that far removed from the upper end audio. Mine has the standard fit. Interesting about the upgrade at a later date though.
When are you looking at being on the road?

Will be on the road on Thursday... interesting to hear about the limited difference between sound systems, there are many widely varying opinions there.

I am intending to have the silencing valves removed (probably do it myself as my dealer has said that I can't do it until 1k service) so perhaps I will need a louder stereo!

You wont get an 06 plate unless you wait till March. The registration date will be 2006 though obviously, which will carry a premium come resale time (albeit much smaller then the 06 plate).

Has anybody heard any news on when they can expect their car? My POD date is still 6th December, so I guess I will be getting mine at the beginning of January. It would have been very nice to have it for Christmas, but I guess I will have to contain my excitement a few more days!

My POD date is December 8th, and AM told me that with a 4 week production schedule plus 8 days off for the holidays, the car would leave the factory the second week of January. This is much later than what I was told when I ordered the car so after going back and forth with the dealer and AM they have agreed to airfreight my car and save 26 days transit by ship to Dubai. It's only costing me an extra $1,500. They are also trying to move the POD up a few days so the car could possibly be finished and airfreighted by the end of December.
