I was at a track day today at Guadix, Spain, and a rather nice German guy tried a bit too hard. Oversteer + overcorrection x 3 = expence...

That doesnt look toobad- no worse then a minor accident in traffic. The car wont be written off, and as long as the driver/ passengers are Ok that that's all that matters. Stuff like this happens- why do you feel it necessary to start a thread on it?

C'mon everybody, we all know that if you crashed a Porker off the track like that and bounced it through a muddy run off area then all it would need is a quick T-Cut to sort it out, rofl...

If people didn't start threads on what they believed might be of interest to others then fora would not exist And besides, it might moderate someones over exuberence somewhere, sometime, to the benefit of all.

Edited to add:- it hit a large earth bank...the airbag didn't even go off, but it was leaking steering fluid over the garage floor.

You keep posting V6!!! I don't think any car would come out of an argument with a mudbank unscathed...especially at track day speeds!!!

That's not an issue, they are designed that way. An airbag can do your face some damage so they should need a hefty smash to set them off.

So a very expensive car will be very expensive to repair when involved in a collision? I doubt many will find this suprising. I accept that the design of the front end of the DB9 and V8 Vantage will tend to result in more damage than with a car equipped with a more traditional front bumper. I view it as the price of beauty. Either you accept the compromise or move on to a more traditional(and in my opinion boring)vehicle.

I take it that the 911s rear-engined layout is also a "design-weakness" in the event of a rear-end shunt.... which isn't too unlikely as you're likely to be travelling backwards when it all goes awry.
