...Has anyone else heard William Shatner`s CD "Has Been " Now that`s weird

Is it wise to be admitting stuff like that in public?

Ah , I deduce you`ve not listened to it then, he talks a version of "Common People" with Joe Jackson that is easy and amusing , whilst "You`ll have time " is outrageously funny .

Mikial - you haven't said but in amongst all this decision making is the intention for the V8V to go?: Say it's not so. Another idea what about a nice used 550. Wonderful car and at £50kish probably bottomed out by now? A future classic. They also did a Ba, Bache - sod it don't know how to spell it but a convertible by any other name, although that (the top that is) was useless above 50mph although I guess in the land of tractors, combines and wurzle trailers that might not be a prob? Btw - the Cobra I was getting? - someone wrote it off before I got it! Fate maybe.

Edited by Pugsey on Wednesday 18th April 10:29

My intention is to keep the V8V , as I believe it has adequate performance to keep up with the traffic here, the majority being 18 wheeled behemoths laden with turkeys/sugar beet/chicken guava/cowdung and anything else that comes from an animals rear end, another reason why the roadster is not an option !

Now no Cobra......perhaps Z06 , Toad impressions would be more difficult , granted.

Very droll matey. So, there you and your GT3 are, parked at the side of the road on a beautiful pass high above the glistening Mediteranean sea. You're actually grubbing around in the footwell for a few fillings that have worked loose and wishing you could have the side window open when you're on the move to take in the wonderful smells of this perfect summers morn. - but you can't because the side of your face gets blown off. Even worse it's a day on which you feel like just cruising but of course you can't do that either because the GT3 then might as well be a 'cooking' 997, so your eyes are out on stalks too. Then you hear it in the distance that familiar V8 wail, the crackle between up and down shifts, the rasp as short straights between hairpins are gobbled up. It's minutes before the culprit climbs into view and by now the hairs on the back of you neck are on end as distant fond memories bring tears to your eyes. Then you see it and as I drive past in my V8 Roadster top down to better enjoy the day and the sound track you think to yourself "what a Dorothy!" I'll believe you Grant.

I'm worried about your choice of reading matter there mate but, re. the hormone treatment, I find a regular diet of cars is working just fine!

Was it Shakespeare that said " Me thinks you do protest too much"

Pugs I try & resist the jibes I really do, it isn't me its that evil be-spoilered beast evil that taunts me into to doing it
I love the thought of listening to the V8s bark bouncing off the mountain side, but if I was in the GT3 I would certainly not be parked up looking at the view I'd be morphing into the two humped beast as man & machine become one, climaxing together in a frenzy of automotive interaction!
The sheer adrenalin pump of the gobsmaking grunt, the awesome sound track as the beast shouts, bellows & screams in your ear (you certainly don't need any windows open) organic alive feel & feedback that puts you centre stage & involved in the action driving......... deep breaths, calm down Grant calm down yum!

Anyway, you know I absolutely LOVE the new Roadster really(in a manly sort of un-hairdresser sort of way, evil oh there I go again sorry) I'm only jealous that I wasn't clever enough to order one in time for 07 delivery!

Is Mrs Grant concerned , as we are , you`re petrol-in -the-veins-buddies, about you`re lack of control, how often do you morph into this other world being, just when you climb into the ubberbeetle or do you find it happening more and more, Jekyll like . Is there a cure, maybe returning to the fold would help

And there's the prob. one REALLY needs both a GT3 AND a V8V Roadster in the barn however I'm much too sensible to consider such things. Now where's my copy of top marques.............hmmm Z06 - in banana yellow I see - a nice subtle foil for the Aston?

Mrs Grant would like the Aston back, she says the GT3 is too fast & she doesn't like the horns that grow out of my head evil
Although when I let her drive it she said "I want one, it's so direct & obedient (women like the word obedient ) all the controls are chunky & well its like a race car... as the horns grew out of her head evil!
Initially I was slightly embarrassed by the rather large rear spoiler, but gradually I have realised it is simply function over form, it stops the friggin thing taking off idea!!!!!!!!

Anyway the glazed evil, aggressive stare takes hold as soon as you start looking at it, the horns don't grow until you settled behind the wheel.

As always Pugs you have hit the nail on the head, oh how I wish I didn't worship at the door of saving money & could swallow even more depreciation & running costs, then 100% for sure I would get a Roadster to go with the GT3, what a wonderful stable of cars that would be!
Edited to add....By the way there will be a full roadtest of the Roadster in Autocar next week (to add to the comparison tests in Car & Evo) & I have just read that the R8 V10 will come this year now, so time to change that order & yet again enjoy amazing cars with zero depreciation, shrewd or what. By the time I get around to changing the GT3 it will probably worth tuppence!!!

Mrs Grant sounds like an ok gal ( obedient, they all do that sir) but whilst driving you around, do you press with both feet through the passenger footwell or just the braking foot? ....and that rear wing !! the man in the street ,I`m sure assumes you`ve been to Halfords , no such assumptions with AMV8V

Pugs, does it have to be the C6 Z06, .....C5 Z06 not worthy ?

If you just want a good laugh, lots of tyre smoking fun and a bit of none too serious hooning then C5 will probably do. HOWEVER the C6 version is supercar (maybe even hypercar) fast as opposed to merely fast and handles extremely well too. It's also got lots of exotic stuff like and carbon fibre and er balsa wood! It really isn't just a tarted up version of the base model whereas the previous incarnations were.

Seem to have lost the plot on Satnav mods here guys, but hey ho ! I guess the answer is no-one knows how to screw with the software. I will figure it out, just to shut her up!
The C6 Vette ZO6 is a bad, bad boy. If you f*ck with it, it WILL kill you! I have 2 pals who own them, and I so nearly bought one, but went for the V8V cos its just so gorgeous, and I have too many Vettes.
I will be ordering the new Blue Devil supercharged Vette when its released, and it will wipe out the current ZO6. I am currently modding my C5 Vette to around 550bhp with a supercharger, and I am doing some serious work on the engine management software.
I wonder just how much power is hiding in the very conservatively tuned V8V engine? Guess I will have to have a look and find out some day! Hehehehe
With regard to the Pork, Audi, BMW argument, Just ask anyone in the pub what they think of drivers of these mass produced, ugly and soul-less fabrications, and I bet the answer will involve self abuse of some kind! They are well made, very reliable, etc etc, so why as a sound (ish) minded person did I not buy one? Good question, and we will probably never really know the answer.

Interesting comments re. Vettes.

Re. Pork and BMW when I owned a BMW (M3) or Porsche ( BoxsterS, 997S & 997GT3) I couldn't have cared less what the pub pundits thought of me as a driver. Leave them to talk about it while I live it I say. SOUL-LESS!!?? Have any of these people in your local actually driven any of these cars in anger?

Re. the satnav. again, I found it fine as others have butI guess we've drifted a little off topic because who cares anyway - lifes too short.

I agree, can't really beat a good yak, eh?
Some of them do, but its funny how all the passers by stop and admire the Aston. Its a personal choice type of thing I guess, I've tried so hard to like pork, but I just cant get past how eternally ugly they are. (928 excepted) I could get to like a V8 BMW, but sure not for its looks or badge! And we all know what A.U.D.I. stands for ! Back to Vettes again, Have you been in the new ZO6? If not you should, thats what real psychotic V8 power feels like. My pal had a bit of a power loss on his the other week, and upon inspection, we found a pesky little GT3 stuck in the air intake ! Raked it out and it runs like a good'un again ! Hehehe

Oh yes!! Spent a bit of time in both standard (comes with pastry brakes) and modded cars. Has the GT3 beaten in a straight line (just) and not as far behind as you'd think on the corners. But it is never the less behind though. Big mark in it's favour is it's different although I actually think that is is less involving to drive than the Porker. Bargain, huge performance!

So subtle! Actually would it be possible to get one of those and sort it a bit handling wise - more power would be easy obviously - what fun that would be! Go on, give us all a laugh Mikial and swap those brogues for baseball shoes.
