About a mile from the dealer in Exeter. Wet, 50 limit, single car accident. (Sorry the pic is rubbish - I took it with my 'phone as I drove past).

I'm trying to find out.

This is on a very popular test-drive route being about 1/2 mile from the entrance to Exeter's huge Marsh Barton Trading Estate - the highest concentration of car dealers in Europe, I have heard; you can buy anything but a Rover there.

It was downhill, wet, a 50 limit after a derestricted series of sweeping bends and a short straight. It points toward a test drive gone wrong, but I'm hoping a couple of mates who work for Porsche and Mercedes dealers will hear the story this week.

Did the customer buy it?

I'm trying to think of a good way to phrase this, but I still think it sounds confrontational - it isn't meant to be, I'm just nosy and I don't doubt what you say:

How did you find that out? I spoke to a friend today who works for Mercedes just down the road from Grange and he didn't know even if the car was from there (but obviously we all suspected it was). What he did tell me was that the Aston went off both sides of the road and was on its way up the hill, not down as I had thought.

Williamp - I have 2 944's so surely I should get first dibs on the engine?

I tell you what William, you can have my S2 engine (it's got a new cam chain ) and I'll have the Aston's engine. Can't say fairer than that

Did they 'phone you, or did you 'phone them?

Cheers.
