I have been offered a LHD 93 Virage Volante in Spain on a UK plate. Is there anyway to check the history and would anyone know a realistic value? It appears to be in good condition although some attention is required. Around 38.000 miles on clock. Any help would be appreciated.

This is quite a difficult car to put a value on. Virage Volantes are still a reasonably desirable car, but the fact that it is lhd puts a different slant on it. Given the age I will assume that it is a standard narrow-bodied car and it should have rear seats, although the first cars were 2 seaters only, some have been converted. Its a nice mileage though.

Get this car inspected by someone who knows Astons as the sills are prone to corrosion. Although a relatively modern car, sills need replacing at about 10 years and this can cost about £10k if done properly, but don't forget to check that if they have been done it is to a high standard. The extra flex on a Volante will undo any bodge-up. Another problem area is what is known as the VIC panel. This is a digital display in the dash and these are susceptible to failing. Another big expense.

You could try contacting Works Service at Newport Pagnell to see if they know of any history or can trace it.

Value? Difficult, but £25-£30K sounds about the ball park, but check with the owners club classifieds and get a handle on them from there.

Good Luck!!!!
