I've read these are 6 x 9s but after speaking to the dealer today I'm told they are a odd ball Honda item.

Anyone care to fill me in?

Have a look at www.letsoffroad.net/type-r-bits.jpg

I think this is a copy of the options list & part way down it quotes 'speaker sets - STD in car'

Cheers guys

They are all 6.5cm from the info I've found. Speaking to the techno ice wizards I've ordered some vibe 6 x 9s for the rear shelf that'll help make the standard less than great stereo sound half decent without replacing the h.u.

Can I ask why 6x9's ? is it the mix of bass response & mid range for a low price ?

I ask as I used to buy 6x9's alot but now have MB Quart component speakers and use a kicker sub/amp for the bass. Clarity is far superior and the bass kick can be extreme if you want it.

I didnt want to affect the bodywork and have even got the components into the old speaker positions / casing.

My main reason for this route was I too have used them before and they have been fine with a standard h.u. The CTR CD is not the best and I'm told it has no pre outs for connecting an amp. I also need to have the full use of the boot for work so a box was out of the question.

I do agree with you that components are far better but for simplicity the 6 x 9s do a job (just lol)

I see, I have an Accord so theres plenty of room after the box & amp are in.

I have a pair of Rockford Fosgate 6x9's in my weekend car, not bad at all

Anyone got the dealer fit sat nav for the CTR, if so any good?

Going by what it says in the accessories list it seems Sat Nav is not an option. But I swear I've seen images of a Type-R interior with it fitted though.

Sat Nav is definately an option the dealer told me it was £1615 and was told that the dealers themselves install it, have not seen any pics of it though.

I looked into SatNav for my CTR. The standard CD player and little shelf is replaced by a single unit with a touch screen. This screen incorporated both the CD player and SatNav. It's badged Honda but is actually a Pioneer system.
It looked really impressive to be honest, but I was turned off by the price (circa £1700). My previous car had SatNav and although it's a useful tool, I didn't think it was THAT useful.
I altered my options request to include a dashboard loading 6 CD interchanger instead (£600), totally different purpose, but it uses the same space (I haven't got the little tray any more).
My options list:
Black Paint
Air Conn
Front loading 6 CD interchanger

Woodster, any ideas where I can see a photo of the sat nav, it sounds good from what yourve said. How long did you have to wait from order to delivery for your CTR?

Yup, that looks like the one I saw. Neat isn't it.
I got lucky with my CTR if I'm honest, the delivery time was only 4 weeks from order. It was a company purchase and I threatened to take my business elsewhere if they couldn't secure a tight delivery time.

Hehehe, you must be the red one then
You know, I'm absolutely gutted about the bang. I lent my car to a lad in the office to get to another site, he calls me up to tell me he's had a slight knock. Turned out he rolled into someone at fairly low speed in stop/start traffic on the motorway.
Be warned, very low impact, no damage to the other car, made a right mess of mine. Replacement parts are hard to come by, it's taken 3 weeks for the body shop to find a bumper. It's booked in for the work to commence a week on Monday, could have been sooner but the muppet who orders parts followed his instructions to the letter. When he was told not to book my car in until all the parts had arrived, didn't apply common sense when the only part outstanding was the Honda badge! It could have been done this week if he'd have realised I'd have driven without one for a fortnight.
Saw the karting photos, wish I'd have parked behind someone!!!

Thats unlucky my friend - especially if you didnt do it yourself.

Jobsworths - dont you just hate them? I had a similar experience getting the car taxed when I picked up - the lady in charge, who had attended courses on tax disk dispensing, refused to issue my disk until Honda had confirmed some minor detail. Meanwhile I stood looking at my new car on the forecourt for 45 mins feelin a right charlie.

Hope you get its sorted anyway - I only noticed the bonnet btw.

Woodster, I dont know where you saw that sat nav, all the dealers i spoke to said it was a small screen with little arrows, nothing like the one in this picture. Do you know who has it?
