I know it's been promised for a while now but just happened upon this pic of the new Supra and thought it looked absolutely gorgeous. Elements of Aston, Z370 / GTR and modern IMSA- style arches. Where do I sign?

No word on price but apparently likely to have a BMW engine mated to Toyotas own hybrid stuff as a joint venture between those two companies which may produce a BMW version too.. (A TVR version would be very exciting, however unlikely smile )

It will be interesting to see what price / power / weight this will end up at. (I'm hoping for low / high / low biggrin )

Just need Mazda to come up with something and then the big four Japanese manufacturers will back to the 90's, fingers crossed for some good competition and filtering down to more affordable models biggrin

No doubt the production version will be as aesthetically close to the concept as the GT86 was.

Have the specs been confirmed anywhere yet?
To be an evolution on the Supra it would have to be a 'torquey' front engined and big bhp RWD in order to be a MkV. With also the option of a proper manual gearbox.... be good if it were the standard option and the auto being the 'option'. ie. primarily designed around the manual platform rather than an auto box.

The hybrid element (if that is what they are doing), may or may not work, hopefully its more the route of the McLaren P1 whereby its used to fill in and enhance the torque curve rather than it being purely something to put a smile on a passing tree hugger.

I was thinking it would be a turbo engine by default. Either a compact turbo V6 or even a turbo V8. I did read somewhere that a turbo I6 or I4 was not going to be used.

I love it change the nose slightly and it would be perfect, my only issue is hearing it will be 450ish bhp this needs to compete with the new NSX v6 turbo hybrid power, Toyota know that stuff inside out and should really of been the first to implement it to a supercar.

I'm not sure Toyota/Lexus do need to make it compete with the likes of the new NSX or the GTR.... what they need to do, in my opinion of course, is just keep it focussed on being the driver's car that the MkIV Supra was, but evolve it to the modern era.

I would hate the MkV Supra to be just another meaningless 'show case' of performance figures.

Meh!

I remembered posting the topmost images of the Supra a while ago (July ‘16!) having thought “wow” and now I’m trying to see where the similarities are between that and this which, to me, looks like exactly like an evolution of the Z4 and nothing at all like a Supra of the past or the teaser.

Although you have to expect a bit of a dilution from some of the more extreme concepts for production reality, this has gone from a solid 9 to a shaky 5 out of 10. Ahm oot!

Won't take much to sort it 2020 facelift if the aftermarket haven't got something in place by next week

Wow, that looks amazing. Was a bit disappointed with the look of the A90, but kits like that give me hope
