Facelift 140 is the the one to go for if you don't want the power as the oil burning issues were resolved.

The higher power VVTLi 190 doesn't suffer these problems pre-facelift.

I have an 04 140, owned for the least 5 years. Had it serviced by the local Indy every year, and other than consumeables, a Rad was the only unexpected expense.

One of the most reliable cars Ive owned, and the first Ive run for big mileage. Currently on 124000 and will continue until I get a bill beyond the value.

03 onwards for the facelift. A few late 52 plate ones also. The main noticeable cosmetic difference is a long, thin horizontal slot on the nose just above the reg plate.

Tell her she's got good taste, from one female to another smile

The facelift models have a nicer interior than the pre-facelift, too.

I've owned a '54 plate 140 for 3 years now. The only issue we've had was the EML coming on a couple of times - got an OBD reader (I also have an MR2 Roadster with the same engine, so needed one of those anyway!) Checked the error code and OH solved the problem by doing an oil change.

I bought mine with around 87,000 miles, it now has over 100,000.

The drive belt tensioners usually need replacement at some point.

If you get a belt noise and replacing it doesn't help, it is likely the tensioner.

It's not a safety or reliability issue...........just squeeking as I haven't seen one fail to the point of pitching the belt off.

Heater radiators are a common fault on them. Pita to replace and genuine replacements are expensive.

Had my cooling rad replace with genuine for about £300ish IIRC

Really?............then what drives the water pump and alternator?

Yes, a "drive belt".

Stuff like this happens when you question a toyota and lexus master technician on the subject of toyotas.
