Qashqai- issues to look out for?

I have been tasked with helping my dad buy a car. He's wanting to spend around £5,000 on a Nissan Qashqai with 4wd (which I assume will be a Haldex clutch type system). It pretty much fits the bill as he just needs this car to be a decent size, capable of carrying bouncy dogs and come with a few toys like cruise control, reverse camera, nav, etc. and there's plenty on autotrader that fit the bill within the budget. The 4wd is a bonus as we're up in Scotland where it has a tendency to be wet, cold and slidey.
He's looking at a 2.0 diesel version and I was hoping the PH massive might be able to tell me if there are any issues or things we need to check before buying a lemon.
I have read of issues with the M9R version of the engine in other vehicles. Does anyone know if these were fixed before the engine was added to the Qashqai range? I'd heard the M9R's were recalled and essentially de-tuned in certain models but I can't see any recalls of this type for the Qashqai.
