What a fun job that was. Talk about a stupid location.

Yup, had to take the intake support bracket off to get my chain wrench around the filter, even then you are still working totally blind.

Could also talk about the alternator pinch bolt, literally all they had to do was put it on the front and it'd be an easy job. But no. It's on the back so you need to strip all the undercladding off to access it. Or just leave it tight and push the alternator in with a scissor jack against the chassis leg biggrin

I spent about £5 extra over blueprint and went for a K&N oil filter. I doubt it offers any higher degree of filtration. However it does have a socket on the top of it. Haven't got around to the cars 2nd service yet, but in theory it will make the filter a piece of piss to remove.

Sadly will likely have my car sold prior to my 2nd year of owning it, every time I jack it up I find more bloody rust!

Your too damn careful with that oil.

If you spilt a bit here and there it wouldn't rust. wink

Hehe, put 2 full tubs of fibreglass to fill the rear arches where the inner had separated from the outer, just need to sand the job down and use some sealer on it so the arch looks uniform. Front chassis legs are beginning to crumble too. It's sitting on my folks driveway, I'm hoping my botch will be enough for 1 more MOT so I can sell it in the spring. It seemed to go all at once, I bought it a year and a half ago and I'd say the vast majority of the rust issues revealed themselves over a 6 month period (I drove it through a Scottish winter).

Fun cars, would definitely have another. Wouldn't touch one as a daily every again though.
