Congrats, great car. No real issues to worry about. It may spit some coolant out from the water pump pressure relief valve at some point, but you can probably double the mileage before that becomes an issue. Worth thinking about changing the pump when you have the cqmbelt done as it's the cheapest time to do it. They really don't go wrong if looked after.
+1. top cars, especially as a second hand buy. It will go on for as long as you need it to.

Im looking at a family car at the moment, the 300h version of the one you bought or a 2006 450h barge.....choices choices.....enjoy your purchase though. I'll be surprised if you go back to German. As for the Evoque thing you mentioned? Horse for courses but Id rather stick my money in an older Lexus 4X4 rather than an unreliable LR car crash of a design!

I wouldn’t buy a hybrid version the gearbox just ruins the experience

Thanks a lot. Yeah, I'm suprised even with a 2012 model, there is no rattle or noise inside? everything seems water-tight and nicely put together. To be honest, I test-drove the Evoque too, it was sort of fun and small enough to get into places in London. We had Freelander 1 and disco 5 back in the day, they were nightmare in terms of reliability. I've heard than, same thing with LR, so pull the japanese choice this time!

Thanks for the tip! My old 986 boxster had a water-pump failure, needed an engine rebuilt afterwards. I will defo keep an eye on this, but I would be more trusting on japanese chaps than dodgy boxster assembly line in Finland. hehe

Well, I'll look forward to that on my 987! Mine was built in Finland as well.....to be fair, it feels tight as a drum, and I'm hoping it stays that way. My perception of Finland is that they do things quite well generally as a country. Unlike Turkey, which is where my Transit Connect was built!

It's no big deal on the IS, it's not a failure as such, it just spits a bit of water out of the bottom of the pump. It will probably never happen. Ours was great, we liked it so much we got an IS-F after it.

We're picking one of these up on Saturday hopefully, so I'm glad to read just how good they are.

It’s an acquired taste. I loved it in my Toyota.
Conventional autos and manuals seemed so clunky, unresponsive and old fashioned by comparison.

Admittedly I’ve gone back to a 7 speed auto but it’s defintely more agricultural.

Yep, sorry, was thinking of our experience with our older IS300, which does have a belt.

After a few hundred-miles more, I finally booked for major service + MOT. Passed the MOT without any issues, and all liquids and inspection fine. This looks like a keeper, fingers crossed!

I got a ct200 hybrid as a courtesy car. First time, I drove hybrid, it is very interesting and silent but I think quite slow-ish comparing to IS v6 engine. I can see how they would be perfect for slow moving traffic though, quite silent and effortless.

Hi Chaps,

Quick question, just realized last night my headlight washer jets did not retract back? I did not even know that they actually exist (lol). They do work well but they just do not retract back. Any ideas?

The car is amazing by the way, done nearly 5k so far mixed of short and long journeys..
