Loved my V and it was in every way superior to my blob STi uk.

The AYC was brilliant, gave a predictable chassis without getting in the way of the driving, balance was oversteer transitioning to neutral and always predictable.

Engine on the V was excellent, very little lag (I mean lag, not low off boost performance), and had loads of character.

Ride for such a quick point to point car was fine, lots of compliance.

Downsides,

Ate discs, 4.5k services rarely came much under £1k and my AYC wore out and needed replacing.

In the wet, very little could touch it, certainly my STi would not see which way it went.
Out of interest, what was involved in a regular 4.5k service that cost a grand to do?

Mine needed 4 tyres every service for the first couple of years I owned it. I was never out of the thing, and drove it in a manner that I find myself unable to replicate as I get older! I'm amazed I didn't stack the thing when I look back on my early days with it, and even more amazed that it's never even had paint.

The 27k service with tyres and MOT, cost about £1600 iirc. Proper kick in the teeth territory for me at the time.

Tyres are tyres, every car will be expensive if they’re on decent enough rubber, the Evo will be more forgiving than most though on tyres.

Not sure how your bill came to that still though, was that main dealer?
Basic oil, filter, plug and diff oil change at an indie is £250 ish

Recently had my V serviced by an Indy (minor service but all fluids changed) and even including a couple of hours on the rolling road to tweak the map it was still under £500.

Probably gave slightly the wrong impression. Every time it went for a service, there always seemed to be so thing needing doing that, on top of the service took the price to 1k smile

Been a long time since I had it and can't remember the list but it did need a new clutch, a new starter motor a new rear diff, new brake disks, pads, tyres(lots) and odds and sods I can't remember.

Got it serviced then drove to Italy for two weeks, drove home and needed another service a week later !
Still an absolutely epic car. Loved the way it would almost shudder when you lifted from full boost to half throttle and the bypass valve cycled

This was main dealer prices though as the car was only three years old and they were the only place in the area capable of working on them.

If it's any consolation, I've got one of the early EX2000 turbo's, in the SH there are bills from 1982/3/4 topping over £500 for annual servicing so it's not a new concept for Mitsubishi to be expensive!.

WOW! Tell us more please!

Original condition shell? Restored and modified? Engine spec? Interior pics?

I have something similar, the only problem is, when and where to drive something of that condition!

I saw this on one of my frequent trips to M.A.D...

It is hands down the cleanest Evo I've ever seen.

Its a fully restored car and very very well done! Every Nut and Bolt is torqued and paint marked,a real labour of love!

Ill post a few more pics,Runs about 500HP In Marks estimation, not bothered with the rolling road as it was Live Mapped. It does get driven but obviously only in the dry followed by a good wipe down every time!

Looking sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet!

Full service including ALL belts, tensioners, plugs, filters, fluids and a new radiator (uprated alloy 1 in black to look more oem).

Car now going back for final stage of paint correction followed by full glass coating of all panels + wheels.

Front headlamps are also being wet sanded and micro polished to remove the "yellowing" of the lenses.

She should be STUNNING after that lot!
